I find that the more we accept each other in being our authentic selves, we are able to serve each other and compromise from a place of love and not feel like it's some kind of tax. It also helps us understand the extent to which we can serve each other. I can talk about work or work stress and be heard and feel heard without expecting my partner to engage me like she works in the same office or offer technical solutions (a thing I find myself and many men wanting to jump to often). Starting a relationship by presenting your best self while making you "more attractive" as a partner robs you of your humanity and sets you up to come off as a failure or less attractive on days when when you're just doing you or when you're having tough times. If you want to do life with someone, let them see you do life with all it's ups and downs, and choose, instead of them buying the 100% version of you that might not always be present (or burdening to you the performer). Kwegamba the transactional nature of dating needs to be honestly interrogated or you'll end up trying to profit and your partner's expense consciously or subconsciously
