Created in 1941 by 8 pioneering South African dentists looking for a better way to protect their earning potential and ensure their financial security, PPS today provides unique, tailor-made insurance, healthcare and investment solutions specifically created to meet the needs of graduate professionals.
So how does it work?
When you take out insurance, you pay a premium. Part of the premium funds your benefits which are paid out when you claim, and part is a profit margin for the company. Unlike in a typical listed company, where profits go to external shareholders, we distribute 100% of all PPS Group profits amongst members with qualifying products, via allocations to their PPS Profit-Share Accounts. This happens whether they claim or not.
Who can join PPS?
Graduate professionals completing or holding a qualifying four year degree, or equivalent thereof, such as an Honours, a Masters or a Doctorate, for a profession that, on graduation, may be eligible for PPS membership. PPS members include accountants, actuaries, advocates, attorneys, architects, dentists, medical doctors, engineers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, scientists, veterinarians and other professions. If you are a student in your fourth academic year of study, studying towards one of the PPS eligible professions, you can also join PPS.
