PRA IRIS Portal Launched: Key Challenge in the New Sales Tax Filing System| PROBLEM WITH PRA RETURN

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has recently launched a new monthly sales tax filing portal, titled “PRA IRIS - A NEW EXPERIENCE,” which can be accessed at: [e.pra.punjab.g...](e.pra.punjab.g.... This new platform mirrors the frontend and layout of the existing “Iris” portal managed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Notably, the previous PRA filing portal, “e.pra,” has not issued the new sales tax return form for August 2024. Instead, the updated form is now exclusively available on the new PRA IRIS portal. Consequently, all local and global service providers based in the Province of Punjab, as well as sales tax withholding agents, must now use this new form for their monthly filings.
While utilizing the new portal, our team identified two significant issues:
1. Resetting of the PIN: Upon first login, users are prompted to reset their PIN. We recommend keeping the same PIN as used on the previous portal to maintain consistency and ease of access across both platforms.
2. Lack of Excel-Template for Invoice Uploads: Unlike other federal and provincial portals, the new PRA IRIS platform does not offer the option to upload invoices via an Excel template, affecting various annexures such as Annexure-C, Annexure-A, and Annexure-D.
We urge all users, trade bodies, professional associations, and tax bars to communicate these issues to the authorities and advocate for the reinstatement of the Excel-upload functionality to ensure a smooth and efficient filing process.
