Prašný most is a former bridge in Hradčany , currently an embankment, over which the only access road leads from the north side to Prague Castle , to the second courtyard . In close proximity to it in the street U Prašného mostu there is the riding hall of the Prague Castle . The name Prašný most also refers to the intersection and the tram stop at the northern end of U Prašného mostu street. The first bridge in these places over the Jeléní příkop with the Brusnicí stream was built in 1535 (in the years 1534-1538) by Ferdinand I of Habsburg to connect Prague Castle with the newly built Royal Garden and Summer Palace . This bridge was made of wood, covered with a roof, and stood on six stone piers. It was originally referred to as the Long Bridge , but the name was taken from the gunpowder mill that was located under the bridge. Other justifications for the name "Dust Bridge" also appear - according to J. Schaller , the reason for the name is that dust settled under the roof of the bridge,or it could be related to the gunpowder that was stored in the neighboring Powder Tower ( Mihulka ). The bridge already burned down in 1541 during the great fire of Malá Strana and Hradčany and was restored soon .
