1. We have made too much about the reality and masks of RSS or BJP or Modi. They are purely nationalist to the core and democratic. Otherwise, think of Indira days of Emergency and how the Govt functioned in those days and imagine how Modi could have behaved in his 2 terms. Deep and insightful. Wish we could’ve have a longish episode. Whoever has been observing Modi knows that he is the only person who doesn’t stand for appeasement unless forced (read numbers). Suggestion: “Aadhunik India”. The hindi version of “modern”, “Aadhunik” is used to signify a very indigenous model of modernisation that India has followed under Modi, as manifest in growing economy and human development indicators with decreasing secularisation of culture. Besides, it is a commentary on the increasing stress on use of Hindi, from naming of laws to attempts at benign percolation of the language by NEP 2020. I purposefully suggest “India” instead of “Bharat” because despite the cacophony about paradigm shifts under Modi era, we are still enmeshed in broadly the same frameworks of pre-Modi era. This is manifest in persevering inequality, politicised welfarism (despite Modi’s attack on revdis) and lack of utilisation of demographic dividend. The 3 new legislations to replace IPC, CrPC etc are also broadly similar to previous laws. Strategic Autonomy has essential congruities with Non-Alignment. Upper caste dominance persists despite the PM claiming himself to be the face of OBCs. Thus, the image of a redeemed “Bharat” stays more in discourse than on ground. This is another reason for preferring the Hindi word for “modern” rather than “India”. Nevertheless, you can flip it to call it “Modern Bharat”, or, if you prefer puns, “Modirn Bharat”, “MODiERN Bharat”. Even “MODiERN INDIA” works well for than matter. Regards

Sadly there is neither Social nor Economic Libertarianism in India. In economics and bureaucracy there is no right, even the BJP leans left. Even in the social aspects, the left might give the impression of being "Liberal" in traditional sense, but it's never about equal rights and more freedom, it's always a fight between cultural Marxism from the left and social conservativism from the right. Modi was not pseudo secular. He did have socialistic tendencies, but only to a certain limits only for vote bank. Otherwise, he is out and out capitalistic. His actions, particularly his exhibition of Hindusim, be it foundation stone for Ram mandir or participation rituals in Kashi and Kedarnath. The minority cards are always played by Congress or even Oawiasi plays in his own community. Modiji is hard nut and it will be very difficult to understand him as he uses his appropriately.
