Hej, I grinded all my baked eggshells to powder in my old coffee bean blender. My oldest Paph is an american hybrid which I bought in winter of 2019 from Aldi because it was just there. And it rebloomed this spring 1st time. I was often very close to let it 'go'. It was a real elegant bloom, not this bulldog style. Our heatwave peaks this weekend, Sat.+Sun. +35 and Im already mealting away. Next week only around +25... what a relief. Many regards and happy growing!

Aha, or use a blender? Could work...maybe... We do eat eggs right?! So it cold be cheaper for us to use in the long run. Congrats to the paphiopedilum bloom! Finally! As for my rothschildianum hybrids,, I do not expect any blooms for the next few years. But I will need to increase the light intencity for the larger rothschildianum hybrids and it might only be one or two years 😁 Yesterday we were melting away here 2. But now, rain and sticky humid.. typical vacation weather. Greetings from Sweden

here's a thought I've never tried but I wonder if it would work. Since you want the moss shredded and you're starting with a dry block, I wonder if you could use a box grater or vegetable peeler instead of scissors.

Yes! A box grater might work well, better even. Just one of my non-light bulb moments on yt 😁

@@KarinsOrchids I guess if it works you can pre-shred it and keep it in a bag for when you need it.

I love your paphs, especially godefroyae! I’ve also noticed that my paphs like to have more light than is usually recommended, especially the dark green ones.

@@lindaannb Hi there! Yes often lack of booth that withdraws the flowering.. alrhough many of the plain green ones are derived from seed from the very slowly maturing rothschildianum. 😀

@@michaelmccarthy4077 exactly my thought. Then I wont have to soak it, let it dry and then cut it into small pieces. 😀
