Nope, it s context dependent. For example, in in vivo research, you usually do a power analysis to know whats the minimum size of the sample required to find the effect of practical significance. But, then, it s really up to the researcher based on your expertise. When does it start to matter. I have several paper on conflicts and violence, you can always argue that an increase in proba of conflict is bad (but eventhough it s important to measure the "cost" to reduce conflict to know if it s efficient)

Très intéressant ! Petite question, j'aimerai avoir ton point de vue : en supposant que mon d de Cohen soit >0,8 (effet large selon seuils classiques) et ma p-value = 0,1. Quelle interprétation avoir de mes résultats ? D'une part j'ai une SMD large et d'autre part, je ne suis pas censé rejeter H0. Qu'en penses-tu ? Y a-t-il des recommandations selon la communauté scientifique en statistiques ? Merci d'avance pour ta réponse 🙏

Salut mathias, content de te lire ici et merci pour ta question. En effet, la p value est "limite" mais acceptable dans certains champs de recherches. Si on accepte ce risque de 10% et qu on va plus loin, l effet est grand. MAIS, dans ton cas, il est tres important d utiliser l interval de confiance pour faire ton évaluation de l effet, pas juste l effet moyen. Car comme tu l as certainement remarqué, si tu as une grande p value ET un grand effet, tu as un grand interval (en gros c est noisy). Ca te parle?
