Congrats for the video! Amazing job! 6:30 The difference between a German factory guy vs. every other nation: A german guy NEVER breaks the rule of walking in non-safe zone on the factory floor. These lines on the floor have significance!

Regarding some comments: This is NOT "THE" DMG Mori Plant in Germany. This is the old Deckel Maho Plant in Pfronten, where some(!) of the DMG Mori Milling machines are made. E.g. the DMU50 is assembled by Deckel Maho Seebach, some lathes are assembled in Bielefeld, other Lathes are made in Italy at Graziano Tortona. Some machine beds are milled at Famot Pleszew. Afaik the city of Pfronten will not give any more land to Deckel Maho, so further expansion is off the table there.

I toured Deckel Maho Pfronten in October. Very impressive how they can move those monster machines through town. Our bus was almost rubbing shoulders with vehicles and buildings driving through town, those massive machines must be a real challenge. We came out of the factory and there were 4 or 5 people paragliding down from the peak of the mountain outside the factory. Very cool place.

@3RPRECISIONMFG Hm. I do not think that you can scher them all über einen Kamm. (little mixed language joke, it was funny in my head. German speakers will get it) It means you can not lump all together. There are many employers in Germany who do not treat their employees well, and there are many employers in America who are not as evil as you describe. This is not a problem of a single country, but of the people. We Europeans like to tell ourselves that Americans talk a lot about freedom and then let themselves be enslaved. That is certainly the case, but not everywhere. Besides, it also exists in our country. Fortunately, I am not affected by it, because my employer actually behaves very fairly, but I know a lot of machinists who came from other companies and who did not fare so well there. I bet there are a lot of companies in America that are just so nice and treat their employees well. Of course, that's not to excuse those who fit that description exactly. I'm just saying that we're not free of this problem and we shouldn't think that it can only be bad elsewhere. Sorry for any mistakes, English is clearly not my first language. P.S.: Production is also a part of American culture. There's a lot to be proud of there, too. Except, of course, the measurement system.

Trust me those are kind of small. I used to work with an Asquith CNC back in the nineties with four heads and a 10 x 5 meter table, we did very big work on that mostly one off's but it wasn't as sofisticated as todays machine tools. It was designed to machine nuclear waste flasks out of solid steel castings, forty ton of which would be waste material. I'm 70 and retired now and things have moved on a bit with multi axis machining.

12:34 Structural accuracy of mill is measured on continuously moving platform. Just like Kias moving in production line. Guy even said it was "tricky" to develope. No wonder DMG Mori current reputation of selling flashy LED decorated crap at premium prices. People at Hermle, Kern, Matsuura, Kitamura, Grob etc etc would had stroke if management suggested such thing. Pure, unvarnished greed. Current DMG Mori is exact repetition of Mercedes Benz in 1988-90. Out of blue an engineering excellence company was put in situation where engineers didnt have any say in company, only beancounters had.

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, DMG Mori claimed to have withdrawn from the Russian market,[25] however, in September 2023, the Russian opposition investigating reporting web-site Agency published an article claiming that the company is continuing its operations in the country.[26] After an internal investigation regarding ongoing production in the Russian facility, the company denied claims that products were delivered to military-related companies. The continued production proceedings were explained through existing binding contracts established prior to the market withdrawal, which still had to be fulfilled to avoid breach of contract claims.[27]
