Thanks SO much for this thorough review of this mini tiller-cultivator. It's just what I need. It helped me to decide. I am 75 years old and need something I can load up in my car trunk to take to my daughter's house so they can use it as well. We both will have small veggie gardens this year! You did an outstanding job showing everything! I appreciate it SO much!

Thanks for your video. It helps me a lot. I don't want to read instruction. I just got mine yesterday for $370 not including 6% tax yet at Home Depot in Maryland. This machine has only 25CC and thought it's small engine. But, wow it is strong and pulls me fast. I love Honda engine. It is easy to start and not much issue. It's kind of expensive comparing with others.

Owned this tiller’s for 2 summers. Maintained regularly, changing the oil every 20 hours of use. Motor locked down trying to start it. Dealer repair man said it locked up due to neglect. Honda has him trained well how to void a warranty.

BONUS TIP: when u take the grease screws out, take a grinder/file and flatten the screw skirt on opposing sides so u can use a 10mm open wrench to break them free next regrease time. (The phillips head is a joke, allen heads should have been used)

Cheers from Costa Rica! I got finally mine! I followed your instruction on filling the transmission cavity with grease! It took a while, despite the fact that some grease was outside the fill screws! I’ve got the edger extra. I am also considering the lawn aerator. However, for Saint Augustine grass there doesn’t seem a definitive answer toward aerating this kind of lawn!
@PracticalPrimate

I have sort of the same problem. I live in a mobile home park in the States, in the Pacific North West, and it rains here about 9 months out of the year. I just moved here last year, and the plot I'm on is about 45 years old and very poorly maintained. I want to have some raised garden beds put in so that I can plant some veggies and sunflowers in the Spring, but the ground is just so bad with overgrown grass and weeds in clumps, with bare bits of mud here and there. This is also compounded by the possible issue that there may be underground wires and pipes, and if they are there then I don't know how deep they are, and I'm not sure the property manager would know either. They've had numerous broken pipes throughout the park, and my yard also has an old shop with electricity in it, so I don't want to risk breaking a pipe or cutting a wire (assuming that the wiring to the shop runs underneath the soil and to the electrical box behind my house). So I'm looking at either something like this, or a gas-powered walk-behind string mower. If I do get the tiller, then I'm thinking that I don't want to take more than just a couple of inches out of the top layer of soil....just enough to get these damn clumps uprooted so that I can level the ground out and put some wood chip or mulch down. Winter is right around the corner here, so I doubt I'll be doing much about this right now. But I think I'll talk with my manager and see what she has to say. Thanks for the review! Sorry for the rambling. XD
@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate 2 жыл бұрын
Haha i enjoyed the ‘rambling’! All makes sense. I would consider hiring a larger matching in that situation for just a day. Would be cheaper and would do a better job under those conditions but yes, definitely do what you can to locate underground services first! I am surprised they are that shallow but you have to work with what you have! :)

@PureBlood42
@PureBlood42 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information. I'm wondering...what is it that dictates the depth capabilities of a tiller....is it horsepower or just the diameter of the tines... both .. or something else?
@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate 3 жыл бұрын
For these little tillers it is both and of course soil type also plays a part. In my soil this model bottoms out easily and you can always just go slower to get to full depth. You can (painfully) go deeper than the diameter of the tines if required but have to take it very slow doing small sections at a time (not efficient at all).

Why did you put grease in the gearbox, not oil? What does the manual say about it? Thank you for the good video. I'd like to buy a FG 110 too, but it's not available in my country. Just to be sure: Did you purchase this tiller in 2020, do they sell it now, somewhere outside Hungary?
@PracticalPrimate
@PracticalPrimate 4 жыл бұрын
Hi K Yes picked this up in May of 2020. They definitely still sell it here (Australia) and I assume anywhere they import Honda tillers (Honda make a wide range of models including much larger market garden tillers). I am surprised to hear you can’t get one there. There are similar models that aren’t sold here that may be there? These include the husqvarna version and the mantis tiller. Yes the manual says grease, lots of small gearboxes like this run on grease rather than oil. As the grease heats up it lubricates the important parts. While it would still protect the worm drive momentarily, I suspect if you filled it with oil it would leak and run dry very quickly. Hope that helps, All the best :) Dan

@@PracticalPrimate Thank you for the response. There are 2 similar models (Husqvarna and Oleo-mac) that are listed in a few webshops, but none of them are actually available, when I ask about it. I try webshops in near countries, probably not Australia. :) The only model I could get is a very cheap (1/3 price of this Honda and the others), and very bad piece of trash. I tried that once (and thought that I need a tiller like this, but not that one), and among other problems, I noticed that the gearbox was so hot that it nearly burns my head when I touched. Does the gearbox of this Honda heat up too?
@PracticalPrimate
