Very relevant; people wonder how I can "get so aggressive" with getting my shot, getting the reaction I want, taking advantage of the situation...I can only do that when I am not thinking of ME...only thinking about the shot and what I want to do with it. I practice every day..for 30 years. You are right on. Thanks for sharing.

These videos are helping me so much, I love photography and I am new to it, I drew and painted my whole life, I find this is my thing now. The problem is, I live in a small town, a lot of people are very conservative here. I get a lot of anxiety when I get out and shoot. People have actually followed me and asked what I was doing because I was taking photographs of a bowling alley. I was actually followed for a mile . People are more paranoid than ever, it’s a shame.

John , I've only discovered your videos recently, and you have a great method of telling a story. You could've spoken for another 15 minutes, and I would've still been glued to every word. I love your passion for photography, and although I only use my smartphone for photography these days, I want to be inspired to make great photos.

Going out and doing it is practising, especially in street photography. You want to get used to being up close to take peoples pictures and relieve tension you don't do that by focusing on a wall. You get out there and make your mistakes at first and then learn from them. Over time confidence builds and then like you say people become more like props and you get the images because you practiced shooting them.

I completely understand releasing the tension and don't think of repercussions of afterwards. And 100% agree with practice. My concern is depending on the location of street photography there a place where your safety is on the line and as they say, "no one picture is worth a person's life." I just feel like I can't let go of that line. I'm sure I'm going to get flamed on it, and don't get me wrong, street photography takes great courage. I guess that line of photography is not for me.

John, today I just discovered you and your photography work. I have rekindled my love for photography, particularly film photography, these last few years. I have three film cameras: Pentax ME Super, Nikon N90S and Nikon F75D and though I do have a simple digital camera, film is something special and magical. I have taken a college film photography course and there is nothing that replaces manual knowledge of the camera. Not just "Spraying and Praying". Knowing about Aperture and Shutter speed, juxtaposition, grey scale etc. I wished I had known earlier about you and about your street photography field trip that I missed last March. I would like to know when your next "Street Photography field trip" class will be held so that I may go along as well. I respect you, your vast knowledge, dedication and passion for photography. Wishing you the very best and continued success!...Jackson-Vista,CA.

Well yesterday I tried out street photography first time(maybe I am one first) in my hometown Mangalore. I took photo not of peoplea actually but of Indian flag(since today is Independence day) displayed at the shop. After I finished taking people came to me asked why I took. I said its for online competition for Independence day. :P They fell for it and I was relaxed the whole time since I was prepared with that answer. Sometimes its better to be prepared with an answer.

Talking about the days passed, here no film role is available all I do is the SD card. In the year 2021 there I shot 28.5 GB photos and each month above 2GB and I don’t count. Those transferred to the stock of my yearly deposit and some time I do check my memorising the event or situation. I am here on the border of two countries Afghanistan and Iran, here Quetta Baluchistan.
