This and the G# minor op.32 are my favourite of Rachmaninoff's preludes. I worked hard on this one a couple of years ago and I decided success with this was all about careful fingering. Hence my score has a fingering written on literally every single note! I get a little obsessed with that sometimes as I know I won't remember those fingerings when I return a few years later.

I do the same thing, and I tend to just not follow through to completion. I get bored and want to move on to something else, and when I come back, it's like starting from square one.
