is there any benefits or disadvantages of paracording a throwing knife handle?
@frankwagner36597 жыл бұрын
It's kind of like a garden trowel, which are fun to practice throwing too! I have a question, not really on topic, but have you any idea where I could learn to wrap a bow staff? I have this iron bar from a bench press that is the perfect length for me, but it is a little rusty and I am hoping wrapping it in something will prevent the rust from rubbing off on me. I'm still looking around youtube and Google, but I think there must be a name for the process which I don't know, because I can't find anything so far. I know there are various ways to do it (simple wrap-around, criss-cross, etc.) and I guess I just don't really know what I'm doing. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Never mind, I just used some boxing hand wraps for now, seems to be doing the trick. Plus it was a great forearm workout, especially since I had to undo it all and get it right the 2nd time, but it seems to be holding up!

@Schmunzel577 жыл бұрын
I hope you get the spear to function, or you have new garden tools. The only measurement for the length of the pole I found was for hunting and that description was only about the safety. The pole should be so long that, with the end near your feed, you can barely reach the lowest sharp part with your extended hand. That is, to make it unlikely that you fall in your on weapon running down a hill.
@Xolette7 жыл бұрын
Schmunzel57 I got the shaft on it... I think it's an okay size. The spear is about as tall as me. Hope to throw it soon now that my husband's back from his deployment!! Thanks again!!

Hi Colette, I have the perfect point black widow throwing knives that are 8 inches. I can throw them at 5 feet with the no spin technique, but once I get farther they don't stick. Is it because the knives are too short? And also do you think I should buy the arrows by flying steel?
@Xolette7 жыл бұрын
8 inch throwing knives can be harder to do with no spin (I prefer 10"), but if you find that they aren't sticking the farther you go back, just do an instinctive half spin throw. Hold by tbe blade side and let your index finger run down the side that's not sharp or just the flat of the knife. You can also try a military half spin which is letting your thumb run down the flat of the knife. You can also experiment with where you place your thumb or index finger to see if that will change how far you can throw. And yes, I recommend any knife by Flying Steel! You'll see a huge difference compared to commercial knives. Good luck!

After getting use to throwing that big spearhead, switching quickly back to knives would feel weird I'm sure. You might be able to double your throwing distance to 12m. See, weight training with a heavier weapon like a meat clever could have its benefits. (Jus' sayin') :)

@Xolette7 жыл бұрын
5.5" knives are too small in my opinion. Try knives over 8", (12" is preferable for traditional throwing). To get your small ones to stick, you'd most likely have to stand pretty close to the target (also stand at an angle to avoid direct ricochets>). Figure out your half spin distance (it's probably somewhere between 1 m - 2 m from the target) and throw holding the blade. Watch my "How to Throw Knives like Clove" and "Teaching My Parents to Throw" for my information on traditional throwing.
