Pradhanmantri - Episode 11: 1971 Indo-Pak war | ABP Live Premium

This episode of Pradhanmantri chronicles the story of India during the 1971 war. "Dhaka is a free capital of a free country", that's how then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, on December 16, 1971 announced the new country-Bangladesh. Technically Pakistan initiated the war but in reality we were prepared for the it, said Lt Gen (Rtd) SK Sinha. India was facing problem of infiltration of then Eastern Pakistan and Indira Gandhi decided to fight for a new nation with Pakistan. However, when Indira spoke to Army chief Sam Manekshaw about the situation of country and her desire to attack on Eastern Pakistan, the Army Chief asked to give more time for to prepare for the war. The Army chief replied, "I guarantee you a 100 per cent defeat." Pakistan attacked over India from both of side-Eastern as well Western border.
