Franciscan Gardens (Františkánská zahrada) is a unique natural oasis in the city center and is furnished with several benches spanning metal arches laden with roses in the summer. Lawn areas are separated by low-yew hedges. The garden is completed with several exciting sculptures, fountains, a gazebo, a playground, fruit trees, and herb beds, which harken back to the former owners, the Carmelites and the Franciscans, who once grew herbs and spices here. A small garden by the Church of Virgin Mary of the Snow between the squares Václavské náměstí and Jungmannovo náměstí has initially been a much greater medieval garden of the Carmelite Monastery after 1348 within the framework of the early development of the New Town (Nové město). Since 1604 it has already been the property of the Order of the Discalced Franciscans, who have restored it several times. The garden had a vital utility function with herbal, flower, vegetable beds and fruit trees; the Franciscans grew spices here. When the monastery and the neighbouring church were plundered by the Prague scum and country robber gangs, it was re-established in the 18th century. The central pavilion was renewed with a ceiling decorated with frescoes realized by monk Benedict. There used to be a summer refectory in the western wing, and the monastery pharmacy and a well were trenched by the Northern wall. Later on, a decorative fountain was built with statues of the saints.

Vodickova Street (Vodičkova Alice) is a well-known street full of tourists not only during the daytime, a busy street in which traffic does not cease to stop even at nighttime. It connects Prague's two largest squares - Charles Square and Wenceslas Square.
The street is named after Jan Vodička, a wealthy new town butcher who in the 15th century owned the most prominent house (No. 699), U Nováků palace today. Thanks to the strategic position of the road - connecting the Horse market (Wenceslas Square) and the Cattle Market (Charles Square), it was a vital business route in the past.
Nowadays, it is one of the most-visited streets that offer various kinds of entertainment for all ages. It is used by cars and trams, and at the street corner is the metro station Můstek. There are many shops, restaurants, pubs, and places on your visit to Prague. One of them is Lucerna Passage, with its beautiful art nouveau cinema, classy café, and famous concert venue, it is one of the most popular places in the city center. Opposite Lucerna, there is the cinema Světotor that features good films. If you walk through the passage, you'll find yourself in the Franciscan gardens, a quiet and beautiful place to relax after your strolls in the hectic city center.

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)
This Square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as well as the site of important social and historical events. You'll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centers here. The Square was created during the founding of the New Town by Charles IV in 1348. Today it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 - 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek's statue of the national patron St Wenceslas from 1912.

Jindřišská Street in New Town in Prague is a link between Wenceslas Square and Senovážné Square. Named after the Church of the Holy Merchant and the Holy Kitchen with halves of the 14th century, The peculiarity of the street is that it passes between this church and the associated bell tower. The Tram Line runs along with it, which continues in the middle of Wenceslas Square on Vodičkova Street. At the other end, it opens into the track triangle on Senovažné náměstí.

Эх, жаль что убрали ресторан трамвай на Вацловской площади. А его полностью закрыли или куда-то переместят?

Thank you for this walk through the center of Prague. I was surprised how many Asian restaurants are in Jindřišská street. I plan to go up the tower. It was not possible when I was a child😀💕🇨🇿

Franciscan Gardens and somewhat mysterious church of Our Lady of the Snows (Czech: Panny Marie Sněžné) really fascinate me. The church is open only during mass times so I never got a chance to go inside. It will be one of my priorities during my next trip to Prague. The area is so very old and has undergone so many changes. Yet, the monastery continues to survive and the gardens are still lovely with its climbing roses in the 21st Century. Thank you for giving us the views in June, Vladimir.
