I remember my first Time playing guitar at church. The song was an offering song. "The lord wants a yes." Was feeling it so much and sounded so good the church went up into a praise break.

I have an honest question. When the Holy Spirit takes over, why do black people shout/dance similarly, but when the same Holy Spirit takes over in a white church it is totally different. If someone were to tell me, “Tom, it is practiced and pre-meditated.” I would say OK. I deliberately cheer for the Lakers so I could certainly support deliberately praising God. However comma, I grew up in the church and I have seen first hand that some people don’t think they have had church until/unless they shout...so they do.
@motluv3 жыл бұрын
Never mind, the countdown to praise answered my question. My next question would be if the gospel is the good news, why tear your face all up when you are praising God and the good news. That should bring a smile...
@realchurchful3 жыл бұрын
Well for one, I would say the black church and the white church don’t even view God the same. The black church is way more emotional in our service and praise because of our culture and slavery plays a part in that as well. We praise God the way we do because we as a people realize where God has brought us and where God is taking us. So a simple thank you lord like the white church won’t always suffice. Just my two cents.
@motluv3 жыл бұрын
@@realchurchful white people shout in church too. It sounds like you are saying white people either praise a different God or praise God differently. 🤔 I will have to think on that.
@realchurchful3 жыл бұрын
@@motluv yes some white churches “shout” they got that from US that is black church culture. I’m not saying the white church praises a different God but I just don’t believe that they view God in the same way that we do that’s why our culture is different from the average white congregation. The best way I can describe the way I believe the black church views God is for example the negro national anthem “lift every voice and sing” one of my favorite verses from the song is “God of our weary years,God of our silent tears, Thou who has brought us thus far on the way Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light” . We truly view God as a keeper and way maker because this is the God that has brought us through slavery,segregation and discrimination I hope I’m making sense lol
@superflyTv943 жыл бұрын
@@realchurchful Bingo. Our encounter with God is totally different because of how we have had to encounter him JUST to survive as a people this far.
