Colossians 1:16 (KJV) “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

Thank you for playing this hymn. This was one of the favourite hymns of my grandfather; he could sing it by heart (in German). He passed away almost one year ago at the blessed age of 106 years.

Lob ihn in Ewigkeit. Amen!

Thank you! Absolutely no need for you to do any more recording, Andrew! That is not the issue. I just thought it might help if the music we see displayed on KZbin when you are playing might be put in the same key as you are playing. But no worries! Most of them are in the correct key, and once again, thank you very much!

Thanx for uploading. Lobe den Herren, den mächtigen König EG 316 (Evangelisches Gesangbuch). For those who want to play along: You have to transpose to G maj (play any note 2 halves higher as the score it has).

Hi Andrew! Just want to thank you for all your beautiful piano playing. I love your choice of theocentric worshipful hymns. I really enjoy playing my flute along with you, which is what sparked my comment the other day. You see, sometimes the music score displayed on KZbin is in a different key to the one you are playing in. No problem for those who are just listening, but for those musicians who are playing along, a bit frustrating. I realised after I made the comment that maybe it is not you that has displayed the music score. Maybe someone else has done that and so made the error. ....or maybe they were thinking people would just sing along with you. Whatever, I wondered if, for the benefit of accompanying musicians it would be possible to have the music score match the key you are playing the piano in. Please, however, do not let this overshadow my great appreciation for your beautiful piano playing. If you decide to leave it all as is, that is fine. I will continue in admiration and appreciation. Moira

Over the past 150 years it is not unusual to find hymns drifting lower by a major third. I could re-record it each time I found one in a new key, but that would mean having 100's if not 1000 fewer hymns recorded. It is a Sophie's Choice; always re-record with each key change or record more hymns. I can't do both. Up until Covid I actually had a job. So I decided to leave things be unless the interval distance exceeded a whole step or the versions varied in texture. I know for those with perfect pitch or whole play along with other instruments (that is only "C" instruments) this is a problem. If there is a specific hymn you would like you can request it and I can see what I can do. Thank-you for your interest in my work and your support.

I wanted to play along to the top melody with my violin, and I was so confused as to why the notes I was playing and the notes I was hearing didn’t sound the same… Then I realized the sheet music and the recording are not in the same key… that was frustrating and I thought I was going crazy and I’m sad that I can’t play along. Why have the sheet music there if it’s different than what is played? Why not just have the lyrics?
@AndrewRemillard Жыл бұрын
Because 99.9% of the audience wouldn't care. I made a decision very early in this project, now over 6000 hymns and counting, to NOT re-record a hymn for each key it may appear in. There could be as many as 6 or 7 keys for each tune.
@asrose79795 жыл бұрын
Somebody tampered with these lyrics, apparently in attempt to make it sound hipper. It is *_supposed_* to be, "Praise *_Ye_* The Lord..."

Perhaps Catherine Winkworth thought 'ye' was passé when she wrote her translation in The Chorale Book for England, 1863. There it is given: 'Praise to the Lord! the Almighty'

I don't re-record a tune to accommodate each key is may appear in. For the 98% of musicians who do NOT have perfect pitch it doesn't matter.

I don't re-record a tune to accommodate each key is may appear in. For the 98% of musicians who do NOT have perfect pitch it doesn't matter. If I accommodated every key used, I would have to record each hymn in up to 6 different keys and sometimes as many as 4 different minor variations. So you see, it can get to be a huge time sink, I would rather make another 20 new hymns available than exhaust the possibilities on just one.
