I got a center lock adapter with my new dt Swiss wheels. When installing it you don’t need to use any bolts. Smart and working great.

how do you ensure the disc is secure? and how do you then remove the disc? thanks
@paulg3316 Жыл бұрын
Just a simple comment: Those 6 screws are very small and the recommended torque is about 6 NM. I bought this kit and 2 screw heads broke off. I had to buy another kit just to get those particular screws. Be careful if you use a torx socket that mounts to a torque wrench. If you do not place the torx bit directly (straight) into the head of the screw you risk snapping off the head of the screw. Once I bought the new (2nd) kit I used a torx type “screwdriver” like shown in the video. I could place it directly on the bolt head firmly and it worked perfectly. Of course, I couldn’t guarantee that I torqued it to 6 NM - but it seems to work fine.

Great video! Just one minor thing to not forget: Degrease/clean your disc when you are done.. The oil on your hands may conteminate the disc..

Thanks for putting this up. I have been looking for one of these that doesn't just have a set of 6 pins -- because I know those would have unacceptable backlash. Screws FTW here.

Grease, make sure to use some grease just in case you need to get the darn thing off for a new wheel.!.

Would this adapter work with a Shimano Nexus Internally geared hub? Thanks so much, this is really useful.
@Prakticala Жыл бұрын
Not sure... I would say as long the hub uses a standard center lock and the new rotor is the same diameter as the original one, why shouldn't it work?
@gregoryvangaya8971 Жыл бұрын
@@Prakticala thanks for answering. I think it won't work for that nor most of the internal geared hubs as they mostly don't have center locks on both sides.

how do i pull the 6 bold adapter off ? mine sits on the wheel..
@Prakticala3 ай бұрын
It should be attached with those 6 removable bolts? If not, maybe you already have center lock...?
@jornmulder3 ай бұрын
@@Prakticala no and its stucken on there. Can not get it off. First i never had 2. But i need to replace front wheel now. I will order a New adapter.. for New wheel because i can not get this one off. There are no bolds on it. Just put the rotor on thats it. So i dont understand how i not can get it off

The bolts sometimes have loctite on them. You may need to get a good grip on them and give them a good "snap" to break them free.

If im looking to put some coloured bolts on, will the tightening plate fit or is it designed for those specific bolts?
@Prakticala Жыл бұрын
The thread size should be standard, but the screw head would have to be pretty flush. If they are higher profile heads, I don't think the lockring will tighten properly.

How to convert a centerlock rotor to fit on a 6 bolt hub?
@Prakticala Жыл бұрын
As far as I am aware the reverse is not possible.
@crculver2068 Жыл бұрын
I'm puzzled why anyone would want to do this, considering that a brand-new Center Lock rotor can be bought for under 10€. I'm surprised that Shimano manufactures such an adapter.
@dirtyforksmtb Жыл бұрын
Because centerlock are a pain to find and it seems that you can only get specific variations of a rotor type in centerlock. 6 bolt rotors are in more abundance at least here in Canada. Also they are easier to work on trail side.
