Some of these resulted in temples getting ruined. Secondly, the Indonesian government doesn't want to rebuild what is broken because it would change the originality of the site. Unless we discover the missing parts, then we could reassemble it to its correct position. That's how we restored the site and maintain it from any manipulation that can cancel its status as an original ancient site. And thirdly, the Dutch rediscovered it by getting reports from the local people. No one sought Hindu knowledge. As a national heritage, the site needs to be restored anyway. This applies to every historical discovery in Indonesia; it has nothing to do with religion. About your story of the Dutch seeking Hindu knowledge to convert people into Hinduism, then "Islamic invaders" converting them back is beyond ignorant. You need to wake up from your delusion. The fact is there's no such thing as Islamic invaders in Indonesia. Islam spread by traders and peaceful conversion, just like Hinduism was firstly introduced here. The Prambanan temple was built in the 9th century and abandoned in the 10th century; it's been abandoned for almost a thousand years. People massively converted to Islam in the 14th-15th century, so how could they destroy it? There's no need to blame the Muslims for something they didn't commit. In fact, it was the Muslims and Christians who restored and took care of the temples until today. Also, the term "Islamic invaders" is kind of weird. If the ancient temples in India were destroyed by invaders, why not blame the invader's nation? Why blame their religion? Did the Islamic invaders actually come from many nations? The relationship between Hindu and Muslim is positive in Indonesia. If there's some kind of religious war in India or even an extreme ideology to take revenge against indian Muslims that destroyed your temples centuries ago, feel free to keep it for yourself. Several statues of Hindu gods that were lost and broken in various temples were stolen and damaged even before Indonesia's independence, mostly stolen and sold by the Dutch colonialists the number is almost 100 thousand artifacts stolen. After independence, Indonesia even restored the ruins of Hindu Buddhist temples such as Prambanan and Borrobudur to become sustainable as it is today and also the people who work to restore these temples are Muslims, This happened because even though we are Muslims, we really love and appreciate the legacy of our Hindu and Buddhist ancestors, so it would be incorrect to say that Indonesia and its people let these sacred and historical temples be destroyed. For some divine artifacts, the restoration should not be arbitrary, for example, some statues were damaged without hands or face, so archaeologists and the government could not make that hand or face imitations because it means tainting the authenticity of historic artifacts. In this video many tourists are free to enter the holy place but today the government has limited who can enter this holy place, I apologize if in your video to much people disrespecting such a holy place, but the point is that today there is no such incident like that anymore, Prambanan and Borobudur temples today cannot enter their sacred altars unless only religious figures from Hinduism or Buddhism are allowed.

yeah but funds to maintain the place, there are officers work there who clean & keep it. Most of the people around there are Muslims with some of them being Christians. There are Hindu people tho but mostly they would just build their own pura for them to pray etc

Mate, stick on travel vlog, history is hard. Borobudur and Prambanan were built by the same Kingdom. There are two competing dynasties in the kingdom, Hindu-Sanjaya and Buddhist-Shailendra. Shailendra built the Borobudur and Sanjaya built the Prambanan. They both built almost at the same timeline. The Hindu migration to Bali that you were talking about, was happened some 700 years later during the fall of Majapahit Empire, Majapahit is a different empire. In 16-century there are no Muslim kingdom strong enough to challenge the Majapahit Empire In SEA, let slone attacking it. To show you how strong Majapahit is, it is actually one of a very few kingdom that able to repel the Mongol invasion, not during its peak time, but during its early stage of creation... Then, the balance of power shifted after series of civil wars that happened in Majapahit, it is a civil war, so it is: Hindu vs Hindu, Majapahit eastern court vs Majapahit western court. Majapahit is too strong, the only thing that can kill it, its itself.

This temple was originally a pile of stone. It took a monumental effort for local javanese muslims to reconstruct it. Even balinese is thankful that it is largely restored. Just look for images of Prambanan temple in 19th century.

That's rather rude. This temple is the pride of the Javanese people and some of us that remains Hindu do prayer in this temple every shaka. Taking this away from us is like letting the Iranian take control of Taj Mahal.
