No matter how ferocious a chihuahua can be, they are always are so gentle and loving to those they consider family. I'm sure he really is a sweetheart with her.

I'm still broken from losing my heart Miles. He was my first rescue dog. He was 6. I also rescued his 2 wives and 2 puppies that were almost dead. I found wonderful homes for all of them. Including my little guy Miles. He stayed with me for another 11 years and lived to be 17. He was a happy old fart when he quietly passed away on me one morning about 3 years ago. I'll always feel broken from losing him. It took me 3 years to even consider looking for another fur baby. But I did and I am now a good mommy to a little Chihuahua Terrier mix and I am so blessed to have Buster in my life. I got him as a 6 week old and I pray that he will be with me until we both get old and die together. I'm 60 and pray we both have at least 20 more years left here on Mother Earth!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✌🏻❤😊

I have a Chihuahua Boston terrier mix and he went through about three to four different homes. He's the sweetest dog! He was dirty and neglected when I first got him, now he's full of love and joy. He still has some issues such as barking at the door, not the biggest fan of big male dogs (just barks if they get too close, if the male dog is far away he's fine) and he's scared of my brother (I think he was abused by a big man at one of his homes). Otherwise he doesn't run away, he's really smart and knows how to open doors and ask for pets with his paws. Everyone that meets him tells me he's the most well behaved Chihuahua they've ever met. I'm happy that Prancer got adopted and is being property trained!

The “Small Dog Syndrome” is a term used to describe a behavioral pattern where some small dogs, including Chihuahuas, display an exaggerated sense of dominance and aggression. This can result from overcompensation due to their small size, coupled with a lack of proper training and socialization. These dogs may exhibit excessive barking, snapping, or even attempting to assert dominance over humans or larger animals. Recognizing this syndrome can help owners address the root cause and work towards correcting their Chihuahua’s behavior. Lack of Adequate Training Proper training is essential for all dogs, regardless of size or breed. However, Chihuahuas are often unintentionally spoiled or coddled due to their small stature, making it easier for them to develop behavioral issues. Without consistent training and boundaries, Chihuahuas might become overly possessive, aggressive, or territorial. Structured training sessions, positive reinforcement, and clear rules can help establish a balanced relationship between the dog and its owner. It’s important to note that aggression in Chihuahuas is not an inherent trait of the breed. While some individuals may exhibit these behaviors, it is often a result of external factors such as improper socialization, inconsistent training, or environmental influences. As responsible dog owners, we can shape our Chihuahuas’ behavior through patience, understanding, and the right approach. If you’re dealing with a Chihuahua displaying aggressive tendencies, seeking professional help from a certified dog trainer or behaviorist is highly recommended. They can provide personalized guidance, create a training plan, and address any underlying issues contributing to the dog’s behavior. Remember, every dog is unique, and generalizations based on breed alone are not always accurate. By understanding the potential reasons behind a Chihuahua’s perceived “meanness,” we can work towards building a harmonious and loving relationship with these delightful companions.
