For the ramps that "require" waste rocks, you can just put the ramp in reverse. E.g: Placing ramp from bottom to top "creates" waste rock instead of requiring it. And drones can still build it from the top even if you place it from the bottom.

It's not that it 'creates' waste rock, it's that if you dig a little further into the hill, you dig up extra rock to replace what you require, and with only a little planning (on pause) it's possible to get around this map (which I'm playing on a 'mere' 800% difficulty) with exactly no excess cut or fill.

They're possibly repetitions from the last time you played high difficulty (except for the ranch) but here we go :p - Why build a ranch? Because they're productive early on - if you can afford the oxygen and the water they guzzle. - One MOXIE that doesn't see full use starting to run less than two days before colonists arrive? Well, let's hope there isn't a Great Dust Storm coming to make you regret not having already stocked up (there wasn't one xD ). - Two MOXIEs that alternate only cost you more maintenance than one would without any other benefits. - In preparation for cold waves, remember it's a +200% power consumption debuff outside of the heater, Accumulators only release 20 Energy per hour, and Subsurface Heaters should always have top priority. - Actually, since your rocket recharges drones regardless of what controller they're attached to AND serves as a controller for any drones attached to it while your drone hub is down, you should have landed it. It had zero downsides.

Played this game some a while ago on max diff, Arnaud is right on all points. Farms are not great early on, Ranch is better. Also, the microdome is okay, but the slightly bigger investment into a small dome nets you 6 triangles instead of 3. So you have enough space to grow without expanding to another dome. I end up putting a prefab machine parts factory into it to save me money and I only need to buy electronics at that point.

Try putting your heater only on a power switch so you can turn off the power and still have it maintain. I’ve lost two colonies on this map do to the freezes lol

I tend to CTRL+click on/off my heaters 12 hours before a cold wave begins. That way, maintenance isn't paid outside of Cold Waves, and I have time to adjust power/water production if either is tight. It saves up on some metals - 2M per heater maintenance round isn't trivial when resources are tight.

Normally you get same breakthroughs on same map coordinates (i e. among all breakthroughs you should always get zero space computing on this map now, though position should be randomized), there was even whole site dedicated to this(out of order), though you don't have to worry as B&B dlc re randomized it so you should get different ones than last time.

I always make sure my domes have high priority, so they get electricity/water/etc before other, less-essential buildings (like apartments, or moxies, with storage).

No dust storms or cold waves!? normally there's a dust storm on day 8ish. When you select max dust storms and cold waves they don't work if you have ANY mods. you need to disable these when starting the game, save the game then activate the mods. It seems important to have the max settings working. Vetran survivor btw :-) loving the content

In my last game, morale took a penalty if jobs and services weren't in the same dome as their housing. Still manageable, but something to consider. Plus, I had to do a lot of micromanaging getting some unemployed people working in domes where jobs were available. I can't say I understand the logic of starting out with micro domes, but hey, you're much more experienced at this game than I. Also, the ADVANCED Stirling generator negates the need for a subsurface heater.

Long ride makes rockets take 75 hours to travel. A sol in SM is 24 hours. Long ride means it takes 3 sols and 3 hours for the rocket to travel.

First megadome I ever built got named "Bone City" Started off with about 24 sexy people. I never needed people from earth again... but I couldn't build domes fast enough... last time I played that one they were running out of food. Perhaps time for soyent green research 😢

Just got meteor sniped at the beginning of my playthrough. My tiny base on the huge map got hit five times including fuel storage and solar farm. I still need more data to get some conclusive results but so far I am inclined to believe that it really is somewhat better when the meteors land somewhere far away.
