Prawn fry in tamil / Prawn varuval Recipe / இறால் வறுவல்

Prawns Fry / Prawn varuval is a treat for seafood lovers. Prawns are the delicacies of the sea world they have an exceptional taste while having lower calories.
Today we are going to make prawn varuval by first seasoning the prawns and removing the excess moisture from the prawns and then slow roasting them with minimum oil.This is the Kerala style of frying the prawns.
Ingredients:
1 lb deveined prawns
To marinate:
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp pepper powder
salt to taste
For spicy prawns:
3 tbsp oil
4 green chillies
Curry leaves
1 sliced onion (200g)
Method:
1. Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, pepper powder and salt
2. Marinate for 15- 20 minutes
3. Cook the prawns without adding any oil or water (the prawns will cook it in its own juices)
4. Heat 3 tbsp oil ,green chillies , Curry leaves, onions
5. Add the cooked prawns and cook for 3 -4 minutes.
6. Now our prawn fry / prawn varuval is ready

Steffi how r you ? first attempt to prawn fry. questions. 1. I first cooked the prawn in pan its not cooked on its own water its getting burn so I took out. 2. After adding onions I added little bit water to make it cook but it took more than 20 mins in medium flame how to find the prawn cooked or not? I still feel bit hard while I bite. here cooked frozen prawns are available shall we use that ? today I tried with raw frozen one. Thank you my first attempt came out very well. I done with my Sunday with super prawn

+hameed imran hi I am fine Hope you are going well. 1.Raw prawns releases lot of moisture when we cook them(if we are using pre cooked prawns then we don't need to cook it separately) Sometimes the moisture may not be sufficient ,at that time we can add a little bit of water to cook the prawns(heat should be on medium-low (I should have mentioned). 2.prawns doesn't need more cooking time,if we over cook the prawns then it may turn hard and rubbery.once all the sides of the prawns turns from transparent to full white then it's an indication that our prawns are tender and cooked(juicy).we can cook for few more minutes to cook it a little bit more . We can use cooked prawns as well (we need to cook for less time ,other wise it may turn hard,.. masalas penetrate more efficiently when we use fresh or raw frozen prawns) I prefer raw over cooked .
