USB mics have their own analog-to-digital converter. They don't use the computer's. There is no way to deliver an analog signal over USB. They typically sound worse because the built-in preamp and ADC aren't as good as the ones in good interfaces.

kid you not, ive been struggling with vocal mixing for two years. Sometimes i turn a couple knobs and everything works, most times its a flop. I remember watching this video a while back and not understanding shit. Now though... i feel like i had a lightbulb moment haha. I cant really hear compression if its not over the top, but ive gotten way better at hearing frequencies and eq'ing. Excited to try my hand at another mix now.
