This is my understanding of the translation: Karaagre = at the tip of my palm. Vasate = dwell (plural, so it's one verb to cover all three gods and areas of the palm). Karamadye = in the middle of my palm. Karamuhle = at the base of my palm. Tu = strong or mighty. Prabhaate = in the morning. Karadarshanam = I look at my palm. (Related of course to the word "darshan," to see.) Kara is the word for palm. So the translation literally is: At the tip of my palm dwells Lakshmi. In the middle of my palm [dwells -- the word "vasate" is not repeated but carries over] Sarasvati. At the base of my palm [dwells] mighty Govinda. In the morning I look at my palm. (Lakshmi, Saraswati and Govinda are gods in Hinduism.)

To me, it's the mutual love between the universe and human soul that connects us. I'm not a Hindu. I come from the Iranian Azerbaijan. Yet, I've always loved Indian classic movies and traditional music as well as Hindu traditions and philosophies. And Sanskrit is the origin of both Farsi and English. I would also like to know something about the philosophy behind looking at the palm in the morning. I would appreciate if I could learn anything from you on this from a Hindu point of view. Interestingly, Moslems also look at their palms in their daily prayers.

I love this mantra very much, thank you so much for this beautiful sharing. It has even persuaded me to acquire a small but exquisite sculpture of Lakshmi for my home, upon which I often like to rest my eyes as I listen and repeat the words in my head. I am a little confused by the translation of the words however. I understand the references to Lakshmi and Sarasvati, but how does "Gowri (the goddess of power)" equate to "Govindah"? I thought that Govinda was one of the names of Krishna, and that Gowri (or Gauri) was one of the names of Parvati? I am not Indian and lack knowledge of the stories and myths so perhaps I am simply mixing things up. In any case thank you again for this wonderful video, which has become part of my day and gives me much comfort amidst the turbulence and troubles of the world.

I listen to this again this morning and was swaying back and forth in my living room and at one point started spinning doing small circles it's so beautiful its a undescribable feeling that I get when I listen to this hence why I am back for more 9hours later. I think it would be a good idea to play this in every school an hour before class starts and before going home. Also in deprived areas like slums and ghettos it would most definitely give them hope.
