@gaelicassasin88772 күн бұрын
Hello (speaking as a Canadian indigenous Dokis firstnation who is Irish,Scottish and French Quebec) I don't mind the European connection,we built our own Identity in the world as Canadians BETTER than Europeans could ever have. Yes there were rough patches but every nation has including us Firstnations who fought amongst ourselves....my tribe was outcasted and attacked for cooperating with Settlers as with other few tribes. We of native background are just as backstabbing and corrupt as everyone else ask anyone. Most people who hold status cards don't even give a damn about the tradition,culture or anything involved with Firstnation. We left our languages to rot and die,cultural practices to become a carnival attraction once a month or year. Most use it simply to take advantage of our heritage and excuse to over-fish,Over-hunt,dodge taxes which doesn't get us much anyway just because they have took up a David's star being the status card to prove what point? Our council members left our reservations to die whilst they pocket the cash and criticising government help. choose your words wisely because not all of us indigenous have the same opinions unlike what the media and louder minority want you to think. Yes I have Euro in my blood but that does not override my indigenous blood. Most fellow indigenous are lazy and greedy so what yourself when you point fingers and tell who to get out of what land.... Maby ask for opinions then generalize,not all of us dislike Europeans heck even we are hypocrites by saying it is our land yet also preaching nobody owns the land even then we stole land from other tribes so who is to blame or call victim?

@@TheWaonze thank you so much! Just a quick question. According to your translation it says you pray to your grandfather. Does this mean you pray to your ancestors along with the creator? (trying to learn about Native American culture. Your input would be greatly appreciated.)
@TheWaonze5 ай бұрын
@@tristanriel700 , Wakan Tanka and Tunkasila are both terms used for Creator . Tunkasila is ‘ Grandfather ‘ and is used commonly for Creator . We give thanks because we know that our Strength , Wisdom , Bravery and Generosity are gifted to us and are wasted unless we use them to help those with less .
@tristanriel7005 ай бұрын
@@TheWaonze thank you for the explanation. So it's just a term, and all worship is strictly for the Creator alone? Also why is the term 'Grandfather' used? Does it have significance in culture or perhaps language?

Except: they better understood creation and not consuming or creating a whole system where you depend solely on your government. Making you weak and easy to manipulate. They were terrific at keeping the forest alive and fresh; that way, animals they hunted would come To them. Also, there are many written stories of how natives will not understand why the Europeans are so mean to their kids. Which just shows they are far more mature. Native Americans are not Saints, and they don't need to be. To me, it shows how much they were above us in such old times. Two: remember most of the written history of Native Americans is written by white men, and you most be aware there was a campaign going on in those times about how native Americans were supposed to be less than “humans.” most of these are propaganda made. So we gotta be careful with that. Thanks! I'm also very very intrigued by their history.
