EXPLANATION OF THE SYMBOLS:
Eyes on a dish: Lucy ripped out her own eyes and offered them to her fiancée when she was told he loved her for her beautiful eyes. She was not in need of her mortal eyes as she was filled with light.
Palms: Symbol of martyrdom.
O St Lucy, you preferred to let your eyes be torn out instead of denying the faith and defiling your soul; and God, through an extraordinary miracle, replaced them with another pair of sound and perfect eyes to reward your virtue and faith, appointing you as the protector against eye diseases. I come to you for you to protect my eyesight and to heal the illness in my eyes.
O St Lucy, preserve the light of my eyes so that I may see the beauties of creation, the glow of the sun, the colour of the flowers and the smile of children.
Preserve also the eyes of my soul, the faith, through which I can know my God, understand His teachings, recognise His love for me and never miss the road that leads me to where you, St Lucy, can be found in the company of the angels and saints.
St Lucy, protect my eyes and preserve my faith. Amen.

O blessed Saint Lucy, patron saint of the blind and those with eye aliments, I come before you seeking your prayers for (name person) and all who have eye problems. Confident in your advocacy, I place them all at your feet so that you can carry them to the throne of God and present them to Him for His blessing.
Pray dear Saint that if it is His holy will that He heal them completely and restore their eyes to full health. If it is not, pray that they are filled with peace and that they can courageously face every day with hope and joy in their hearts. Thank you St. Lucy for your prayers. I trust in your patronage.

I have been praying to St Lucy to intercede for me for a few years. I was going to have cataract eye surgery in Jan 2023. My surgeon called me on 8 Dec 2022 and told me that I would have my surgery on 13 Dec 2022 which also happens to be the feast day of St Lucy. The surgery was successful and I can see very well.
