I grew up in a Baptist Church. Never heard a teaching about tongues, never heard anyone in My church pray in tongues. Hence I didn’t even think about this gift. There was a time in my life when I truly desired God. I started praying more and spending more time on his word. One day I was listening to a sermon online and the pastor mentioned tongues and asked anyone desiring the gift to pray along, I did and forgot about it. About 3 months later, I went on a fast asking God for more of him. I locked myself in my room that day and told God I was spending the day with him. I read his word, prayed, sang and at the end of the day as I was praying to break the fast , I felt this presence come upon me. It was so peaceful yet powerful. I received the baptism of the holy spirt and bursted out into tongues that day. I couldn’t stop. It was a beautiful experience and I was so surprised. I’m grateful to God for this gift. I am still in the Baptist church but I pray in tongues during my personal prayer time. If you’re desiring this gift, may God give it to you in Jesus name.

@@mygoodnewsgospel Is this the TRue understanding of baptism? “Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.” Acts 8:35-39 “God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, And mightest overcome when thou art judged.” Romans 3:4

@@lightinthedarkness8541 Praying in tongues is often associated with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but it's not the only evidence of it. According to the New Testament, particularly in Acts 2 and 1 Corinthians 12-14, speaking in tongues (glossolalia) is one of the manifestations or gifts of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit involves a deeper experience of the Holy Spirit’s presence and empowerment, which may include speaking in tongues but also encompasses other aspects like boldness, spiritual gifts, and a closer relationship with God. If we are given certain gift of the Holy Spirit so the holy spirit already came to us since we have already access of the Gift of the Holy Spirit. So, while praying in tongues can be a sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the baptism itself is a broader experience that involves various spiritual dimensions and manifestations.

Praying in the Spirit is a powerful way to connect with God on a deeper level. It goes beyond our natural understanding and allows the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf, guiding our prayers according to God's perfect will. When we pray in the Spirit, we are strengthened, uplifted, and aligned with the divine purpose for our lives. It's a time of surrender, where our words may fall short, but the Spirit speaks directly to the heart of God. Let your spirit be open and receptive, trusting that through this intimate communion, God is working in ways beyond what we can see or imagine.

Check out 1 Corinthians 14 about praying in tongues. It’s a regulated gift and not everyone is given that gift! 1 Corinthians 12 also speaks of spiritual gifts as members of the church body have different gifts, but the “weaker ones” are crucial to the church as well. The Corinthians highly regarded tongues and prophesy and the more visible gifts, but it’s so important to not get caught up in these more visible ones

@chayil7489 thanks I looked at Acts 2. However im still confused (aren’t the hosts talking about praying in tongues?) as to how Acts 2 supports that all believers have this ability? All in the upper room were given that ability by the Holy Spirit, but am I supposed to generalize that to all believers? It’s not said explicitly. I read v 17-22 as well, and I see Peter says “I will pour out my spirit on all people” and precedes to list spirit-given abilities. But are we supposed to take from it that every believer will be given every gift, despite what is said by Paul to the people of Corinth?

@@pamelankiruka1750 thanks I read it. Still I wonder is “they” really saying every single Christian? Or is it like saying “all educators shall do these things: *they* shall teach history, science, mathematics” but we know not every teacher teaches every subject? I’ve read a few different interpretations on the verse. I’m not closed off to your idea. What gets in the way for me is: It seems pretty clear to me that Paul stated it was not given to every Christian, nor is it a necessary part of salvation or sanctification. If every Christian should be prophesying and speaking in tongues and healing the sick, would you say they are not truly saved or that they are not accessing the HS full potential?

You guys.... you're both not entirely wrong, but here's the thing : The Holy Spirit helps you to pray - the Bible tells us. It is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit, like the lady said. But, an interpretation is only warranted when it is before a congregation. When it is you and God, He becomes your sole audience. And yes, he knows what you say. It doesn't need to make sense to you. My brothers, I too struggled to accept this as simple as it is. The breakthrough came when I opened to God to help me, dropping every preconception! and asking Him to restart it with me. If what I knew this whole time was true, it'll come back. If it's sth new, I'd be grateful to Him for helping me get it right. That is righteousness. God bless you. ❤

Speaking in the spirit is for some but PRAYING in the spirit is for all Holy Spirit baptised believers. Because the speaking in the spirit requires interpretation which means this when God is speaking a prophetic word. Praying in tongues though is not about anyone else other than your spirit praying the will of the Father in our heavenly language. That is my understanding of it.

@MoTee1 but the word say we are gifted by the Holy Spirit according to God's will. So we don't all have access to every gift as she states. It's God who decides we can believe healing is ours but if that's not what God purpose for you, you stepping out in faith won't overrides God's will

We are not baptized in the holyghost as soon as we accept Christ. Rather, we are sealed with the Spirit. The baptism in the holyghost takes place later when God is ready to use us specifically. Then we get the gifts of the Spirit. And not everyone speaks in tongues, either. There are several different gifts of the Spirit. Tongues is only one of them.

The Holy Spirit coming to reside in a believer is not the same as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It can happen at the same time but it's two different works of the Holy Spirit. And there's different gifts and manifestations of tongues. Your prayer tongue is between you and God (for your edification), and is not the same as the tongues you receive for ministry, and can be a tongue known to man even if you don't understand it. Then there's the tongues for edifying the body of Christ, that usually come with interpretation or someone in your midst operating in the gift of interpretation. When you are baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire, you will know it. There's no doubting that experience. The believers all knew when they were baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit because the tongues of fire, spiritually, compelled them and gave them utterance. They didn't have to try, it happened. Consider the scenes in the Bible, no one was trying to speak or exerting effort of their own apart from opening their mouth, which they automatically did because of the power that was upon them. The Holy Spirit either fell upon them or someone prayed and Jesus baptized them with the Holy Spirit and fire. It's up to the Lord how He moves.

Yes, I agree! 💯 The baptism in the Spirit is a subsequent baptism which can happen right after you are saved or at the same time…for me it wasn’t the same time…it was years later! Also the Lord gives us gifts He wants us to use, it’s not an automatic transaction once you’re baptized in the Spirit…and Paul’s says to desire the greater gifts meaning not everyone has the greater gifts! I know people who have a particular giftings of the Spirit which others I know do not have, but that doesn’t mean the Lord can’t use them to do a particular task if He’s leading them to it!

Luke 3:16 John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. We receive the Holy Spirit once we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. That’s the baptism Acts 19:5-6 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Here it is again. Some people don’t get all the gifts right away but you can access them, praying and believing you will receive them

1 Cor 12:8 - "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit…" The Bible does not say that once you believe in Jesus, you have all the gifts. This scripture is clear on that. IT SAYS "to desire spiritual gifts." 1 Cor 14:1 On another note, the tongues that people pray in typically which almost sound like gibberish needs to be tested. I, by the Spirit of God, have felt off about how the charismatics view tongue speaking, and this is coming from someone who used to partake in it. Ang and Ari, continue to be fruitful in all that you guys are doing because you are one of the only Christian platforms that I see that are not only walking in truth, but have earnest hearts for it. But please remain in discernment, and test everything that even your guest speakers are telling you because no one is perfect about their understanding of the Lord and scripture unfortunately. I urge you both, because you guys are doing great so far, but the truth is so narrow and you must continue to remain in that, both of you. God bless you and your platform and may God continue to use you both and take you to great heights!

I agree. Some guests have said things that don't align. Baptism also is NOT just accepting him and surrendering. Once we are 💯 sure we are giving our lives to Jesus then we get baptized. With water full emersion ( John 3:3) I feel this was dangerous doing away w the act of baptism.

Personally I think that I have expressed each gifts of the Spirit on different occasions. I believe the Holy Spirit gives us access to each gift based on the work of service required at the moment. We don't own any of the gifts, it comes to us according to the need per time. For instance if I could be sharing via evangelism, and a word of knowledge may be impacted at once and then I may receive the grace to prophecy at the same time, likewise the ability to pray in the tongues talking to the Father because I dunno what I ought to say

Yeah I don't know how true everything that she is saying is. I believe everybody gives different gifts. Then some of these people that claim they're speaking in tongues they don't translate. So then they're not doing it right because if people don't know what the spirit spoke to you that means you probably don't either if you weren't able to translate it to the people who you are prophesying to.
@facynta68235 ай бұрын
Translation or interpretation comes into play when you're giving a message meant for others (the church)or someone. That's why the scriptures said if there is no one to interpret, the person should be quiet in the church. The person giving the message might not have the gift to interpret, but there should be someone there in church that should have the gift and be able to interpret. Speaking in tongues as a believer is first for the edification of your spirit (1Cor 14:2). It's a communication between you and GOD that the devil has no understanding of. We as Christians should also desire the gift of the interpretation of tongues and ask the Holy Spirit for it.

I think some people are misunderstanding or they just simply don’t care to actually comprehend. When you receive the Holy Spirit you are able to speak in tongues. It does indeed take faith. The Bible actually tells us that we should desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit. That’s not wrong or evil. It’s all about your heart posture as to why you want the gift that matters. I personally believe that the gift of tongues is very important for a believer to have because it aids in building you up in the faith. Without speaking in tongues there are certain levels you can’t reach. It allows you to connect to God on a deeper level.

Is there any way to activate it? I've been praying to have it for 3 years and I got one phrase in my mind but my tongue got stuck. Ive had moments where my tongue gets heavy and I feel like the words are about to bubble out, but it just disappears. And now every time I pray about it I go through a lot of spiritual attack. I want to go to new levels in my relationship with God, and it's so frustrating to not be able to have that new level of closeness.

@@Scribble.Scribble God bless you! So for me personally it didn’t come as quickly either! I had to fast and pray and I made a sacrifice onto God. Then I watched this man of God do a teaching on it and I kept trying and trying and nothing happened but then suddenly I reached this point of desperation and I began to weep then suddenly out of nowhere the Holy Spirit hit me and filled my belly and I started speaking in tongues!!! It’s truly a supernatural experience. I recommend praying and fasting as led by Holy Spirit. Then watch Apostle Richard Lorenzo Jr. teaching on how to receive the gift. I can try and find it for you. I must warn you though. When you receive this gift your life will completely change. You will experience heavy warfare and you will be set apart. So you may feel lonely sometimes but remember that God is always with you and He will never leave even when everyone else does. It’s also a beautiful change because you will see God in ways you have never seen Him before. I have literally fallen in love with God because I received the gift. Please do not give up! So I wasn’t able to find the exact teaching that Mr. Apostle had that I watched to receive the gift of tongues but he recently made a new teaching on it. If you go on KZbin and search “how to receive the gift of tongues Richard Lorenzo Jr” the video should come up. The video is 12 days old. It’s about 2 hours long and you may want to fast forward the video in the beginning because it doesn’t officially start until like 6 minutes I think. I pray right now that every attack of the enemy coming against you receiving your heavenly language be broken right now in Jesus name! May God continue to bless you according to His unfailing love and grace. May you receive your heavenly language quickly and see God in new ways. In Jesus name I pray, amen. God bless you! @@Scribble.Scribble not a problem at all! It’s my pleasure! So during that time I put all the money I had into church and I gave God all of my time for like 3 days because I think that was the length of my fast. I can’t remember if I did a water fast or a dry fast and I fasted all day and night for 3 days. 72 hours total. This is really extreme. I don’t recommend it. Please pray and ask God what kind of fast to do. During that time fasting I wasn’t working or anything. I would literally read scripture, pray, and only consume content that was about God when I was on my phone. I also did I lot of worship. I feel led to say this, I know we don’t know each other personally but the biggest sacrifice you can give to God is your time. It’s not about money or material things. God is our father and what He craves most is our time. Many times God is waiting on us to sit down with Him and talk. He doesn’t want to boss you around He wants you to confide in Him. He loves you so deeply. He will reveal to you what it is He craves most from you specifically when you talk with Him in the secret place. Most likely whatever is taking most of your time that is taking you away from God, I would give that up. For me it was social media and sometimes other people that didn’t even care about me. Just pray and God will show you. ✝️🙏

Glad to hear that you mentioned it! True it's for everyone of God's children. praying in tongues is praying in spirit and God is spirit and wants all His children to pray in spirit as it is His will, however not everyone gets that gift easily. sometimes God wants us to really desire this gift and others like prophecy and healing etc, so we get them by seeking Him and drawing closer to Him. Some people give into the lie of the enemy that this gift is not for everyone, yet it is and the enemy doesn't want us to get this gift because it's one of the most important gift for saints as it's the manifestation of the holy spirit through us and it draws us closer to our Loving ABBA aka Father God.
