Pre 1970 Autorodeo Nieuwleusen 8-9-2018
On the 8th of September it was time for the annual Autorodeo of Nieuwleusen. This year they held their 50th edition of the Autorodeo. To celebrate the 50th edition they've decided to make it an all pre 1970 Autorodeo. Only cars from before 1970 were allowed to take part in this event. Here's a small list of rare cars that were used for the Autorodeo: Citroën AC4 (1928), Bentley MKIV (1948), Peugeot 203 Familiale (1949), Mercury Montclair (1957), Jaguar MK2 (1959), Chrysler Newport limo (1962), Ford Fairline (1964), Opel GT (1969), Rolls Royce Silver Shadow (1967), Chrysler Imperial (1967), Ford Mustang (1966), Citroën DS Currus (1969), Daimler DS420 Limo (1969) and many more! American derby is not this. As a veteran of demolition derby, I can say that with confidence. bigger engines, reinforced cars, make things much more exciting. They last longer, and hit hard. We also generally use the rear of the vehicle as much as possible, otherwise the cars can give out too quickly. Banger racing is on my bucket list though. I ever get over there, I want in on one.

The good thing is you can use american cars, like Cadilacs and Lincolns. Especially vs normal cars is quite something to watch.

As much as i like Banger racing, its a shame to see such iconic cars like this being destroyed. Most of these cars are worth a fortune fully restored. I used to Banger racing back in the 80s, i used a Hillman Hunter wich is worth a fortune, and a Triumph thats worth a fortune now, still its fun.

I could never be a banger driver , I don't think. It really hurts to see all those classic cars getting destroyed. I mean I can understand if they're completely rotted out and not worth fixing but Some of them look practically brand new . Really just makes me sad

There's no race here, what kind of demolition derby is this? Also, must be a crime to enter in pre WWII cars. Hell, those things survived Hitler and his bombings. SAD to see some end this way!

That there's no racing in this video has to do with the fact we only make highlight videos. This one is an autorodeo its the same as us demo derby. It was a pre70 autorodeo as it was the 50th edition.

Always love watching these videos. Minus the knob who ran the ford mustang. That was painful to watch. One of these years when I get over there, I should have to join you guys. 17 years of demolition derby and various motorsports for me.

Was this filmed in a residential housing area? Hopefully none of the residents complained about the noise. Here in the States, tracks have to be pretty much in the middle of nowhere because of noise restrictions. People complain too much.

This event is part of the town festivities. Only citizens are allowed to race there. Its being held there for more than 50 years. Most grew up with the event and dont know better than its always been there.

No Nieuwleusen is at least 1.5 hours away from Maaskantje. The cars are picked for being affordable. Most of the time that means there's a lot of rust in them.

Wenn man beim Abtransport mancher Autos genauer hinsieht, kann man sehen, wie stark manche durchgerostet sind. Etwas Farbe kann sowas auch ganz schnell verschleiern, was manche Leute auch bei 08/15-Restaurationen nutzen :D

Rost hin oder her solche Autos gibt es schon lange nicht mehr auf dem Schrott und der einzige Grumd weswegen die aufm Schrott sind ist weil sie alt sind Schade um die schönen Autos So manch einer hätte sich wenigstens über sie sinnlos zerstörten Ersatzteile gefreut

De meeste klassieke autocultuur van Nederland is ook na afgelopen weekend nog in Nieuwleusen te vinden waar gemiddeld gezien de meeste klassieke auto's per inwoner zijn. De meeste van de auto's uit dit filmpje waren, voordat ze mooi gespoten werden, in een staat dat je nog niet kon zien dat het een auto was. Alle bruikbare onderdelen zijn bewaard zodat andere klassiekers langer mee gaan. Jammer dat je dat niet in ziet.
