Thanks for creating this video! Sums up the build vs. buy decision very nicely and why I might want to add this board into the mix. Another benefit is the capacitor to protect the first LED in the string from dying prematurely.

Dr Zzs, can you please do a quick wiring/setup video for the Dig-Uno? Especially how to replace an existing NodeMCU setup with LEDs with the Dig-Uno? I bought one, it showed up, it's great, but so far I've only set it up to connect to my wifi. Without any documentation and looking at the board, I can see where I should connect the data and ground wires, I see where power goes, but I don't see where the 5v/12v switch is. I imagine converting an existing NodeMCU setup to replace it with the Dig-Uno is like a 5min operation, tops, but it would be fantastic if there was a guide on how to do it!

Hey Doc, been using WLED and nodeMCU's ever since I came across your video for the first time last year. I've added pixel controllers and xLights but still love the simplicity and portability of WLED on nodeMCU's. This just ups that game! The enhancements added to the Dig-Uno really makes this plug and play solution, no more null pixels! Just bought 2! Go Green! ;-)

This has come on a long way since I did some strips with Bruh Automation's code and an ESP8266! I've really been out of touch with progress, and these Dig-Uno boards and the WLED software look way advanced. Think I will be saving some pennies to get me one of these boards and hook up some of the strips I have had laying around in boxes for years!

1) Could you add a relay to save power in standby?3m stripe consume during standby more power in a year than the cost of this controller. So with a relay, a controller often amortizes itself within a year. 2) Microphone: for the WLED fork with audio reactivity. There is already a PCB shield and parts list from the guys who forked the audio version of WLED. (But its not possible to order it assembled). I guess it’s only a matter of time until they merge and then it would be great to be able to use audio reactivity. 3) size: Shellys have very similar chips on board (including relay) and are much smaller. Maybe there is some downsizing potential

Two years on and your guides are still relevant. Watched a couple of your videos. I am looking into WLED for my kitchen and have seen many, many videos of people wiring them up straight to the ES32. thinking of using Dig-Uno as an all in one safer way of doing things. Question though. My kitchen has two runs of LED stips, both powered by 12v transformers on the same switch. Do I need 2 Unos and can I control both from the app so when the switch is used both sets of lights come on and can be themes changed as needed? Any help appreciated.
@DrZzs
@DrZzs Жыл бұрын
Depending on location of your lights and how you want to run your wires, you probably could use just one digUno. If you did have to use 2, there is a "Sync" setting in WLED that sends any changes on one controller to other controllers so they all do the same thing at the same time. Hope that helps. Come to discord and chat with the Pixelheads in the LED channel.

I think you'll need power injection somewhere in the middle too. 900 is a lot. I usually see dimming after about 200. A 60 amp PS will be enough for sure. I'd suggest adding power at both ends and probably a couple places in the middle. I'd say use 20g wire too.

Ok.....I am not a “tech” type person. Does anyone make a RGBW controller with power that I can plug, program and play ??

"dig-uno" and similar control serial / protocol LEDs (power, ground, one data wire, 0's and 1's = brighter / dimmer), like WS2812 and SK6812, the former being RGB and the latter offering an RGBW option. WLED runs on dig-uno and so you can have a solder-free just plug wires in, get the polarity right, and it works experience. PWM LEDs (ground, one wire per colour and more volts = brighter) however, want a "QuinLED-Quad" or similar, which has one analog output channel for each colour, so four channels = RGBW. It is still solder-free: plug wires in, get the polarity right and it works.

I know! like in record time. Sorry, I thought demand had slowed down. I'm getting another shipment from Quindor in about a week. Then the next batch is going to be twice my usual order so hopefully we can keep some in stock for a few days at least. It's a good problem to have :)

I for one want to support the Doc. And this fits directly into our hobby. No longer having to manually do a logic level shifter myself. Eventually I'll get into Falcon territory, but for now this is my next "step". Thanks Doc!!!
