2023 season is officially underway. Both front and back lawns are looking good this early Dino. Even with the mild Winter we had here the lawn went dormant with one week of below freezing back around New Years and has been sleeping ever since lol
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
We had the same thing happen here when we hit zero as well, but it seems like we are starting to grow again. The PRG over-seed in the front has already been mowed once a couple weeks ago. Wanted to clean up the leaves and took off a 1/2 an inch. Can't wait to see your new lawn this year!

75-80 here in Central Texas, for the next 10+ days and im already starting to scalp. My yard never really went totally dormant this year. I also attribute that to getting my soil better

Been watching for a while and love the vids Dino. Great timing on this one , just got my YM preM delivered and was curious when to throw it down. It helps that coincidentally we have the same weather, I live in Spring Hill and just noticed you’re in Franklin. I’ve got fescue but have also been growing tifeagle bermuda in pots to plant a putting green in my backyard this year so I’ll be following your lead from here. Thank you sir!

Hey sir, ever think about getting a lawn striper kit?
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
Maybe. I will be Reel mowing the front, so it will be stripped automatically. I may get one for my Toro Recycler.

Should grass be cut all the way low when applying this?
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter. This only effect the seed germination process.

Hey hi I just subscribe to your channel. I like learning from you and I like your videos. I have a question here. I am in Erie PA and I have mowed my lawn 2 3 time is looking green but I started seeing some crabgrass starting to grow today is April 28 you think 🤔 I’m late to do pre-emergent for the crabgrass?? is my first time since I purchased the house almost a year and I didn’t have no grass now I do have nice green grass but I don’t know if I’m late for this product I don’t want to mess what I have I am new and everything that has to be from your lawn For fertilizer I’ve been doing two times a day water at night can you help me?
@TheLawnShark8 ай бұрын
It may be too late for pre-emergent, but you can use an herbicide that has Quinclorac to kill and control crabgrass. I like the Ortho Weed B Gone - amzn.to/3xUg8g9 (This is an affiliate link, so don't feel obligated to use it), you can also find this in a big box store or garden center. It's a concentrate and you will have to mix with water and use a sprayer. Just make sure you read the label carefully to make sure it works well in your region and grass type. Also, thanks for subscribing and watching. I really appreciate it!

Can you burn lawn with either if put down too much? Know you said yardmastery covers 3× more than your lawn sq ft
@TheLawnShark9 ай бұрын
The only thing that burns your lawn is Nitrogen. Both of these are 0% nitrogen, so there is no fear of burning your lawn from them.

Do you recommend aerating prior to the pre-emergent or fertilizer?
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
No need to aerate prior to application. Aerating is great for the soil, but not necessary for pre-emergent.

Its been a month now...Will you be applying another pre-emergent in the next weeks when this one is done? I notice not starter or balanced fertiilzer in addition to this. why not? When will the first fertilizer be done and what kind? also will you be using any post emergent in between?
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
No need for another preemergent until Fall for winter weeds like Poa. The Preemergent is effective for up to 16 weeks. First fertilizer depends on your temps. I will be putting mine down this weekend, but I wait until temps warm up and real Spring growth starts. I will use whatever I have on hand, and for me it is a 24-0-6, but a simple balanced 10-10-10 or 13-13-13 works as well. As for post emergent, I only do what is necessary. I have some clover, so I will most likely treat it in a few weeks. Hope this helps.

Love the vid! I was just watching one of your older videos where you were using tenacity as a pre emergent, so you think the prodiamine granular works better than tenacity? I think I remember reading somewhere that prodiamine doesn’t work on clover, but I could be wrong
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I think prodiamine is definitely cheaper than tenacity. Neither works for clover. You will need to use something else for clover. I am researching right now because I will need to treat the clover in my yard and will post a video about it soon. Also Tenacity cannot be used on Bermuda. Tenacity is, however, a great pre emergent to put down while overseeding because it doesn't prevent grass seed growth. Hope this helps!
@mattmiller4632 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLawnShark thanks for you reply! Definitely helps. I have tall fescue and also live in middle TN. I already bought some tenacity but could easily use prodiamine if you think it would work better as a post emergent. As you know we already have a good amount of weeds coming up in TN and I haven’t put and pre emergent down yet. Thanks again for the help! Love the channel
@TheLawnShark Жыл бұрын
@@mattmiller4632 Sorry if I confused this... Prodiamine is only a Pre-Emergent, not a post emergent. For post, Tenacity will work, but there are cheaper alternatives.
