It is such a joy to know that our women's team is in the hands of world-class coach Emma Hayes. I am truly excited to see what they will achieve under her tutelage.

i used to never watch vlatko’s press conferences because they annoyed me and i thought he would just say random stuff to make fans and reporters happy but now i just love listening to emma talking because she’s such a good coach and very intelligent and doesn’t mind sharing good points and some points that need improving

Emma Hayes is more than I expected to get as a new coach. USA had no leader on this team, the players would try to switch from one leader to the next. Emma came in and established herself as the leader of this USA team. What surprised me the most was I knew that was going to do her own way, but what she is doing is switching the method of relying on star players, instead of relying on 3 or 4 players each game she is making everyone more equal. She is making every player no matter what position powerful and wanted. What she is doing is building a well balanced overall talented team and not relying on certain superstars.

point taken -- but every USWNT has had certain tremendously talented individuals who have contributed to the team effort but it wouldn't be the US if there weren't a few who leap out of the play (sorry, pun intended) thru their indivicual efforts --- can't imagine an engine like Carli Lloyd nor the headers of Abby nor the sheer grit of a Michel Akers or Julie Johnson-Ertz ----- they just imprint on the mind while the unsung but special Becky Sauerbrunn is a star ..... every member of the USWNT teams have always been powerful and wanted ---

Emma & Ji both Chelsea legends, as a Blues fan I find myself watching all the press conferences and US match highlights, Still following Emma's career. For me she is one of the best coaches in the world, there were no stars (maybe Sam Kerr, but she is so down to earth) in the Chelsea locker room just a great squad of players that would give everything they had for her. She will need time with the players to build the bond and trust she nurtured at Chelsea.

It's so much fun to hear Emma speak. I'm used to these pressers being a snooze fest but she is so compelling and charismatic! She's got so much character and is really down to earth but you can tell how intelligent and passionate about football she is. So so so excited for the Emma Hayes era!
@alansmithee88315 ай бұрын
Emma is used to winning in competitions with different styles of football. The US has many players used to playing a direct style. It has become necessary in the modern game to be able to adapt to more than one style in order to beat all comers, not just field eleven good players who play their style so well it beats all opponents. Even champions Spain lost a game at the World Cup and learned from it.

i think she made it pretty obvious, though of course the US players like their fans are supposedly not as technically advanced as the European sides ---- but the actual patterns and nuances dependent upon the player mix on the field will be intriguing to see.

@@kevinkanter2537stop with the technical stuff, it seems that some think the US women’s team just started playing Futball , this over focus of technical playing is getting old now. Bottom line the US will and already be one the best in the world. One of the things the US has is they have the mentality of being winners, for better or worse the US culture is about winning, like it or not.

I'll be surprised if the game is actually played. Forecast has rain/lightning for St. Paul on 6/4/2024. Maybe it'll be postponed.

good point -- darn --- 90% chance of rain and wind still moderating from 15mph to 12 .... wonder what the field's drainage is like since estimated only .12" rain per hour with the hybrid GrassMax system? no retractable roof, just some sun shades for circumference ---- guess we'll see.

Who is that man who always seems to interrupt her...I have never seen that in any other National Team press conferences, seems like a very American thing to have a PR guy there
@waterthecan5 ай бұрын
they do that for all press conferences--there was a woman that did it for all of emma's chelsea conferences. she just didn't interrupt so much.
@dolphmanity5 ай бұрын
They call him Aaron Heifetz. He is an anomaly I've never seen in any other American sport. It is clear Emma is already annoyed with his presence. Coach Hayes does not need a babysitter. She will get rid of him within the next 6 months, I predict.
@jordanmilam5025 ай бұрын
@@dolphmanity First of all, he didn’t interrupt her a single time. He respectfully waited for her to finish her answers and then called on the next journalist to ask their question, which is LITERALLY his job as Senior Press Officer and Director of Communications for the USWNT. Second of all, he’s been with this team since 1989. He’s quite literally outlasted about 8 or 9 coaches. Assuming he’s going to be “gone” within 6 months is a losing bet. 😂
