Fantastic. Just what I needed: A side-by-side comparison of the two. After watching this, I decided on getting the original version. You are right that the reduction of the width of the tachymetre frees up the dial, but JLC decided to then make the typography (12 & 6) and the indices bigger, and I think this was a poor design choice. Instead of giving the dial a little room to breathe, this actually makes the 2 appear a little more cluttered than the original. Those numbers and indices were big already - no need to make them bigger. It irritates me a little that the 9 o'clock sub dial on the original is a tad smaller than the 3 o'clock, but overall it's a more harmonious watch. A bit wacky, but somehow restrained and elegant at the same time. The date also looks more harmonious when placed at 6 o'clock on a white background. I do prefer the use of the accent colour (red) on the 2, but overall conclusion: I'm ordering the original.

Bought this over version 1 and kind of regret it. All three sub dials are very hard to read, and now I understand that I actually prefer the polished sides.

Thanks a lot Tim for your JLC reviews, especially on the MC chronographs and the comparison between the two models in this video. Both are my favorite designs of the MC series as well, next to the World Extreme Chronograph but unfortunately the latter one's a bit too large and thick for my taste.

Tim, I owned the 1st iteration until a month ago. I still own the master compressor memovox which is housed in the same 146 case. I have a 17cm wrist circumference, and I feeI the lugs are just too blocky on the 146 case. So I just purchased this 2nd iteration in which you reviewed. And I hope the lugs are substantially smaller. If not oh well at least there’s the quick change strap function.

Nice side by side. Both have their advantages. Hard to make a bad choice, here.

It is tough. The original Master Compressor Chronograph was one of a handful of watches that originally drew my attention to JLC watches, so the sentimental value is high with this one. That said, the quick-release lug system of the Chronograph 2 is a stunningly brilliant solution. Best, Tim

I love this watch, for me is the right size. Beautiful dial, we all know by now what an amazing movement they have thanks to Tim, " JLC ambassador". I always feel Tim gives a special review for Jlc's. Superb watch and review. Thanks

Sebastian Palacios you just can't get more enlightened, anywhere. I almost have my watch nerd diploma in the bag. Problem is I like this attainable product called JLC now, too.

I'd be proud to be a JLC ambassador! Let them know that I'm, available ;-) Thanks for the kind words, Sebastian and Todd. Best, Tim

Hi! This particular watch sold long ago. The reference was made for some time, we have had examples in the past from as early as the 2012 timeframe. --Team WatchBox

@@the1916companywatchreviews Thank you very much for your reply! Unfortunately I have expressed myself somewhat misleading! I wanted to know until when the Master Compressor Chronograph 2 was built. I saw a model that is supposedly from 2019. I always thought the watch was discontinued in 2018.
