Although nurses are trained under a nursing model, at the end of the day NP’s treat, prescribe and diagnose as well. They also practice in the same exact areas. When you are a PA-C and you will be looking for a job you can apply for a position that is looking for an NP and vice versa. Sure some hospitals might prefer nps over pas or other way around, but once you get out of school for either of the jobs there is no more medical/ nursing model- it’s all about prescribing, diagnosing and treating. Good luck with your studies!

Your the first person who I’ve seen mention PT! I’ve been debating between becoming a PT or PA so this vid helped me out

I’ve also been debating between becoming a PT or PA. What major are you looking to pursue or currently pursuing?
@valleigherickson59723 жыл бұрын
@@andrewschagen6368 I’m debating too! I’m going to major in kinesiology. Ik a few PA’s that majored in this and they found it helpful. Hopefully by the end of getting my bachelors in that I’ll know what to choose!

Love your videos! For me, lateral mobility is the most attractive thing about the PA profession! I was pre-nursing before and when I discovered PA, I almost instantly switched!! Can't wait to see all your PA videos, I'll be starting PA school when your finishing up! lol Good Luck!!

I’m a bit biased, but the PA profession is definitely a really great decision ☺️ and thank you so much! Wishing you the best on your journey!

Thanks for your insight on these professions! I've been thinking about being a PA or a PT but I feel like I just need more experience in these fields so I want to start shadowing and see which one is something that I want to do. I've been also looking into the 3+2 PA programs and 3+3 PT programs so that I can speed up the schooling process.

Very helpful!! Thank you! I'm a senior in high school who's looking at the profession of becoming a PA. I was really worried about the work/life balance. Could you make a video on everything we need to know about patient care.I want to get my hours through being a CMA, but I need some guidance.

I'll be applying to PT school soon but I kind of wish I thought about the PA path sooner. I always just assumed it would be leagues harder but after looking through CASPA it doesn't seem that bad. My major turnoff to PT is that the price is ridiculous and there doesn't seem to be many scholarship opportunities like in other medical professions. PA school is cheaper and y'all make more too! And I would argue about the diagnosing part in PT as diagnosing is a big part though it is a different process.

I’m in the same boat right now! I’ve just submitted my PTCAS applications and I’m really debating if it’s the right choice. Im going to shadow PAs and work as a medical assistant until I hear back from schools to get a better grasp of what I want. I still don’t think it’s too late to switch especially since I haven’t started school and haven’t put too much money or time into it.

You wrote in the title MD DO NP PT, What about OT? Did you think of OT? Or only those 5?
@AubrieJones4 жыл бұрын
Although OT and PT are different themselves, the reason I didn’t choose OT is the same reason I didn’t choose PT. I wanted to do more of the diagnosing, prescribing meds, and managing diseases - not the rehabilitation/therapy side of things.

I’m a college freshman right now legit changed my majors twice already. I was thinking of joining my schools nursing program, but then I been doing a LOT of research and maybe I want to go back into looking to be a P.A. I love that they can find more opportunities in travel since they can switch their specialties whenever they want, that’s what most attracted me back to P.A. rather than an NP. but also, I was even thinking of doing the nursing program to get bachelors then work as an RN for a year then go to a PA buts that’s a lot of extra work and time. However I get worried about how I’m going to get experience to get into PA school if u can’t work as a nurse I’m just not sure !!
@HannahTran14 жыл бұрын
BUT i will tell you that with P.A. school I’m nervous about seeing gory stuff but I think that I could get used to it for the schooling. I would just not want to cut someone open myself YEEESHH, looking is okay
@HannahTran14 жыл бұрын
Also if I was gonna go to the PA route, would u prefer just completing my bachelors with a science degree (right now I’m doing neuroscience and thinking sticking to it) or doing the pre-PA program at my school? I really got to see if the program is good though..

Hi thanks for the video. I liked your point of view. I have masters and dpt and practicing as physical therapist in NY for 2 years now. But the scope of practice seems broader and better paying PA job got my interest so much. Do you think it is worthwhile to go PA school for another 2.5 years as a PT?
@AubrieJones3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you! I have seen quite a few people change careers from various health professions to PA! If it’s something you can see yourself doing and you would like to have a different scope of practice, I would definitely say go for it! You already have the experience and likely have quite a few classes completed to get you started!

Hi! There isn’t :) I just worded it awkwardly. I said I did not choose PA because of the schooling required to become a doctor. Meaning I didn’t choose PA just to avoid extra schooling!

Lateral mobility makes no sense for MD's. It also means that PA's aren't experts in any particular field.

For after graduating as a PA, Are you possibly going to go back to medicine one day or have you decided DO/MD is not in your interest?
@TechVHD4 жыл бұрын
As in some BSN RN decide to go to physician MD DO after a while, are you possibly going to go from PA to MD DO? Or is that not lined up?
@AubrieJones4 жыл бұрын
A PA practices medicine so I would not be “going back to medicine”. No, if I wanted to be a doctor I would be enrolled in medical school right now!
@TechVHD4 жыл бұрын
Aubrie Jones I meant to add on, practice independently in the united states in non-rural areas, so you’re fine being a physician assistant?
@AubrieJones4 жыл бұрын
ClashOfClans I will have a significant amount of autonomy as a PA in both rural and non-rural areas :) and yes, I am “fine” with a career that was ranked #3 OVERALL best job and #2 best health care job in U.S. News’ report this year (above a physician in both categories!). Like I said, if I wanted to be a physician, I would be starting medical school this fall - not PA school.
@TechVHD4 жыл бұрын
Aubrie Jones With all due respect, each part of your comment is valid, though a Physician takes more work, good luck
