1:40 the way I think they did it is that they didn't bend that last bit down until the parts on the inside were soldered in place. Then they bent it down and soldered up the outside.

Looks like it. As the great grandson of a tinsmith, I concur. 😂

Very nice progress Will and not unprofessional at all. I learned that in sheet metal, if it looks right, it is right! I think BSA soldered the baffle into the tank at three points, tinned the base and the lower edge of the baffle and then sweated the base on. How did he know he'd got it right? Because he was good! BSA were metallurgical experts, from the gun making. Best wishes, Dean.

My parents actually had a pre war BSA V twin and sidecar they got in a swap for a 350 BSA sloper. I'm talking 70 years ago. They gave it to a neighbour when they came to Australia.

You're kickin ass on that tank. Happy accidents. That big press is cool, I want one. Maybe I'll keep it in my kids room since I'm out of room in the garage...

Yes mate it is a strange complex thing in comparison to fuel tanks of modern standards! Thanks pal, can't wait to have it on the bike!

The big question is, what came in the Remington box, 11/87 shotgun, or 700 series rifle..
