Have you considered mounting the bump stop to the spring plate instead of the chassis? Two less holes in the chassis to make and should work the same overall. Great work over the holidays - its really coming along nicely. 😊

Someone else I know has that setup. A sort of omega shaped steel plate held by the U bolts with rubber on it. I could do that but the bump stops I have are proper car ones from a specialist parts supplier so that means no funny questions when it comes to inspection time!

Hi Simon front gards are looking very nice, I'm always amazed at the variaty of skilles tou have aquired and the high standard you acheave. I found the rant more of Randals wise words , as I dont realyunderstand AI. Only like so meny new things it could be a fuals dawn.

It's really just a mis-understood and so mis-used tool. And with so much hype and investment money involved. The other thing to remember with generative AI is it doesn't know what's true so will often just make things up. And they are all designed to do so in an authoritative way. So people assume it's right. I always compare 'chatting' with an AI to doing a job interview with someone who is a total fraud desperately trying to sound like they know what they are talking about! I've interviewed a few people like that in my time.

I have nothing to do with new tec but your coment could aply to alot of jurnalist I have met and worked with. It could also replace all marketing exsecss as they to have no or very little understanding of the product they represent. But AI would be less anoying.@@asciimation

In terms of geodetic structures, try to get a copy of Slide Rule: Autobiography of an Engineer by Neville Shute. He was he designer who did all the calculation for the structure of the R-100 and R-101 airships, which was where the structure for the Wellington ( and Victory) bombers designed by Wallis and Vickers came from. Not easy to obtain unfortunately. The elements in both structures are in fact extrusions which are extruded shaped cut and then heat treated because they need joggles and form added to the ends so the structure surface is uniform. If you have not seen it some of the aircraft structure forming has been explained by the team restoring Just Jane (a Lancaster but the stringers are similar in method of construction to the geodetic parts). Neville Wheeldon is the producer of the content.

Didn't he write novels too? I'll look up Just Jane. There is a Lancaster in Auckland in a museum there but not in flying condition.
@russellnixon99818 күн бұрын
@@asciimation I think you will like JustJane , Nevel has been covering the restoration for as long as you have been posting on YT. Or it just feels like it. A geat way to see war time aircraft constuction and engineering.

The guards are looking very nice! When it comes to AI, I don't know all the technical stuff like you do but the damage it is doing to KZbin, and the entire internet for that matter.. is very real. Searching is almost useless and videos with high view counts are almost all done with AI. Channels like yours, or mine are a thing of the past... which is fine with me, I enjoy my little circle of channels I watch. There is big money to be made now with very little effort on the creators part. When the rich and the lazy get involved in something they always ruin it. Eventually all KZbin will be is two AI created guys kicking each other in the nuts...Feel free to rant anytime... Cheers

I'm the same with a small selection of channels I enjoy. I gave up trying to grow mine. I neve really tried that hard. I must be the only person on KZbin to never ask someone to subscribe. I don't even bother with monetisation now. Hopefully that means less ads. Just wasn't worth the effort!
@shedbythetracks9 күн бұрын
@@asciimation KZbin approached me with their monetization program and the more I learned about it the more it felt like a deal with the devil. If there are any ads on my channel they are put there without my knowledge. And YT has not missed a chance to punish me for it. Now I'm just ranting....

I was thinking about your rule marking issue and wondered if cold blue would bring them back. Used as a patch repair in gunsmithing, generally it is Selenium Dioxide with some carriers added in solution.

I have some and tried it (and brass black) but it won't work on stainless unfortunately. I had some success drawing over it all with Inkzall marker then rubbing off the excess.

Great internet/AI info rant. I'm working on a web3 product around capture and analysis of insights within social groups, with distributed and trustless infrastructure. I hope this will mean better, more accurate, information and insights on the info.

I forgot to say in my rant that AI also lies. All the time. Just makes stuff up. I always prompt it now to give factual answers only so specifically prompt it to say if it can't find a verified answer. One issue is the way they work is to appear authoritative. If you tell them they are flat out wrong they go very subservient. It always reminds me of the computer Slave from the 4th season of Blakes 7, that's the voice I always picture the replies in.
