What I find amazing, is not only the work that goes into making one of these, but not forgetting that every component going into these also has to be made somewhere. Also, all the robotic machines have to be made and software designed for them. So much goes into something we barely acknowledge or we just take for granted. Man, we must go through some plastics and metals on a daily basis making all sorts of things every day.

That's the funny thing too, people still treat Chinese manufacturing like it's 1995, but these workers are being paid the same or more than their Western counterparts and yet the cost of these PSUs is still extremely cheap compared to what they would cost if they were manufactured in Western countries.

What kind of absurd comment is this? Hundreds of countries produce product as good as China, usually significantly better. Medication, transportation, food, furniture, electronics, plastics, agriculture equipment, aircraft, ships, steel, and on and on. The only reason anything is done in China is because labor is so cheap, more often than not, so is the quality.
@BCdgz
@BCdgz 2 ай бұрын
@nohandleleft I disagree. Now the US and Eu are putting high tariffs on Chinese goods. Why? Because they can't compete. And it's not just cheap labor. They are innovative, Efficient and productive. And China is now the second largest economy in the world and Is a developed country and labor is not cheap anymore in china

While the primary electrolytic capacitor is Nichicon 400v 470uF GN series with endurance of 3000 hours at 105°C, all the horrible ChengX Cap (i.e. crap) with their infamous gold lettering on the secondary filtering stage makes it anything but a "High-Quality" Power supply. Cost cutting measures at its finest. This is how credible pieces of junk are made.

@@lllelouch Calm down, take a deep breath, relax. Let me tell you a story of a little known SMPS (PSU) named Antec BP300P (Code name: Red Beast) with an output of 300W @ 240v from the year 2012. It has Samxon capacitor on the Primary side and Teapo capacitors on the secondary side. I have used it for 5 years on a system with Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 processor on an intel DG31PR motherboard with ATI Radeon HD 5670. After 5 years it was retired while fully functional and having acceptable ripple across 12v rails and replaced with Seasonic ECO-430 having Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors on both primary and secondary side. The cost of Antec BP300P was 22$ and Seasonic ECO-430 was about 34$. In my original comment, nowhere have I mentioned about Japanese capacitors. There are almost equally good Taiwanese capacitors, which can be used as cheaper and moderately reliable alternatives. I have seen Jamicon capacitors in an UPS running for almost 8 years under heavy thermal stress working fine and never fail. The point is to understand what type of capacitor is suitable for which application. Japanese capacitors are always better to have. If not, then use Elite, Cornell Dubilier or any other Taiwanese capacitors such as Teapo, Jamicon or at the very least have China based Samxon or Aishi which are dirt cheap and provides proper datasheet alongwith some degree of reliability depending on a combination of specific series and application areas. What is the point of going through a complex production process and use no-name capacitors with highly questionable reliability which doesn’t even have a proper datasheet? Give it some thought.
