You have a broken wave washer which acts like a spring keeping the assembly to the proper side. The washer is about 2 cents and it will solve your issue. You can see the broken remnants of the washer on the floor in your video.

My initial thought was the bearings. I had found the replacements on line for $20 each ($40 for both), but I took the unit apart to first have a closer look. When I took off the bearings they looked in perfect shape and noticed that they don't actually hold the main rod in place, the only thing that prevents them from falling out are the bolts in the arms and those where securely in place. The spacers I added seem to fit in perfectly. My wife and i use it anywhere from 30-60 minutes each,

Just move the eddy current magnet to recenter the disk Eddy Current Magnet Adjustment 15. Check the position of the eddy current magnet relative to the eddy current disk The eddy current disk should be centered in the slot in the eddy current magnet. See Diagram 5.9. Diagram 5.9 - Eddy Current Magnet 16. If the eddy current disk is not centered, loosen the two eddy current magnet mounting bolts and move the magnet to center the eddy current disk. 17. Tighten and torque the eddy current magnet mounting bolts to 66 inch pounds.

I was wondering if the bearings were the problem. I think faulty bearing would be more likely to give yo usome up and down movement, or at least some noise if they were failing -- not side to side. I would have expected a couple of parts to be tightened to the central rod with hex screws to secure everything together. Anyway, the reason I watched your video is that I am interested in putentially purchasing a Procur elliptical at my work for staff to use. Are you happy with your purchase overall?

Curious, did you start to hear a metallic "shing" sound when the disk hits the magnet? Or, did you only hear a constant grinding sound? I have a periodic yet ongoing issue with the metal on metal scraping sound. It only happens when you shift your weight.

The grinding happened when the magnet hit the disk. It was light at first and It would come and go. After several days of use, the grinding noise became constant and louder. The fix has been working for years and I have not encountered any other problems.

What’s the fix ?

so replacing the bushings fixed the problem?

No, I used washers as spacers and that fixed the issue. It provided enough space to stop the grind. It has been a few years now and the issue has not returned.
