I agree. "Predator 2" is the only worthy sequel in the franchise, IMHO (I've seen all the others, and they are lacking at best). It's not as good as the original (what sequel is? Not even "Aliens" and T2 by the almighty James Cameron are), but there's a lot to love about it. I especially like how it plays like a police procedural for the first 1\3. People say it is too over the top, but it's not like "Predator 1" wasn't bombastic in its own right: they were both cinematic comic-books.

For some background knowledge. The chief ordered them to hold back cause the government stooges coming in we’re the OWLF task force ( OWLF stands for Outerworldly life form task force) they had been itching to capture a predator since the jungle incident where Dutch was the only one who survived a direct confrontation with the Jungle predator. Dutch had escaped the clutches of the OWLF but not before they had learned what they wanted to. Their goal was to either capture a yautja or capture his equipment intact ( as they have a history of destroying their gear to prevent capture). The OWLF ultimately failed in their mission and it wasn’t till the incident in gunnison colorado where yautja technology was successfully captured ( someone had gotten ahold of Wolf’s shoulder cannon that he fashioned into a makeshift hand blaster after his gear was damaged in combat)
