he is a "villain" in the sense that he prefers the creature alive to make a profit, in the same way certain characters in the Aliens franchise caused trouble by wanting to study Xenomorphs instead of killing them.

If we learned an Alien had landed on earth, the scientific community at large would likely prioritise capture and research over destruction.
