i used to race in clone and flathead classes in gokart racing, 07 tempest for long and less bank tracks and 04 phenom for short high bank, with frame stiffener removed, i would turn my clone at 6300 with a 200 rpm drop for 20 laps and had great luck, verylittle mod, air filter and jets and header, it was fun before they let the builders get in it, now it is ruined for what was intended, budget racing, a person could by a clone from arc for 400.00 and go racing, now they cant be touched for less than 1200.00-1400.00 if you want to stay in the race,

Know this was 4 years ago, but I just had to add, I raced 2 cycle dirt in the late 70's into the 80's. Back then you could do just about anything to an engine you needed to make it scream before the foreign engines came on. It was a money game then, and that didn't take very many years to dwindle the tracks out of business. NOW, I'm 'cobbling' up these 4 'bangers' for the grandkids gocarts as much as I can HIDE from the wife! THANKS Red Beard!

Nice build! Only thing I would advise is to use an actual micrometer when checking bearing clearance. Plastigage is a good alternative to buying precision measurement tools, but micrometers are fairly cheap these days and if you can get a mic on it you'll get the most accurate measurement (often down to .0001 on a quality unit). On that note; Also remember to measure all your parts at room temperature without handling them too much. Hot parts and/or mics will produce inaccurate measurements. Some of this may be overkill on an engine like this, but good building habits will help you in the long run. How much (ballpark) do you have invested in this engine? Can't wait to see it rip!

Omb says The standard bore on a Predator 212cc engine is 2.756". The Wiseco Piston #11132p94 is for a 2.756" bore, which means it will yield approximately .003" piston to wall clearance. This is right where you want to be, so provided your bore is good and needs nothing more than a fresh cross-hatch honing, it will be good. If your bore is larger, out-of-round, or the engine has already been run for a while with the stock piston, you will need to go with a larger piston. so do I need to get a larger piston for my 212?? It's a few months old and been used a lot.

So i had a question or two. Stuck inside like a lot right now. Figured I'd break out the mini bike. Bought a new 212 hemi. Thinking about doing a few things to it. I don't have a shop. I use a garage i rent from my apartment complex. So no work bench, no vise more importantly. So question one is, do i need a vise to set the bearing on the piston? And my second question is. Should i break in the motor before i start adding parts, or can i just do the stage 2 from the beginning before i even add oil? Personally im pretty sure i should just do the break in so i only have to hopefully open it up once. Clean it out and start replacing. But i figured I'd ask anyway since it's easy to just unscrew a few bolts and clean it out. I never know when I'll actually be up to the task of replacing all this, so when i am i want to just do it and get it done. Also i like the videos, its nice to get the proper torque settings and watch it happen all at the same time. But i would like to know what kind of power increases you can expect from each stage? Would help determine what realistically i would need vrs want.
@jmac36934 жыл бұрын
No need for break in. Doing the build up when it's new is a lot easier cause its clean. Totally up to you though. If you want to see what it's like stock then upgrade for better results. Its pretty satisfying to experience the boost each upgrade gives you.
