However, after he left, all UDTs were reclassified as seals so he may not have been an exact seal but he did go through what seal training would have been and he did not wash out.

That's what makes the movie so special though. With most horror style movies where the main cast gets killed off one by one, the characters are often so bland or one dimension that we don't actually care if they die or not. I love the movie Aliens as much as Predator but in Aliens we barely get to know most of the marines before they're killed off. The characters in Predator were each given at least one or two hero moments before they died so we would miss them more.

Yeah...the final act was very long. The first act was a lot of info dumping and simple situational plot driven action. The second act, the introduction of the Predator was good due to not giving too much away but the soldiers went down too easily. Essentially this was to show the superior firepower and stealth capabilities of their enemy. The final act was pure Dutch vs the Predator and no one could ever say that wasn't riveting and 'edge of your seat' thrilling the whole way through. That was a great end to a legendary movie. I always hoped they would cash on and make a prequel movie with Dutch's crew in a different combat role. Search and destroy style so we could see just how badarse they were when on full tilt without the Predator to contend with. It's kind of like the Space Marines in 'Aliens'. They talk during the movie about other missions and a prequel would've been a hit movie if they released a different movie called something like 'Alien: Space Marines" and show Vasquez, Hicks et al kicking arse somewhere on one of their 'bug hunts' they mention. The tie on would've created so many chances to use some more of the 'Alien' comic book plot lines like 'Aliens: Labyrinth' which is an exceptional storyline.

Having been Marine Infantry some of my biggest issues with this movie is the tactics. I love the movie by the way but there are some glaring issues: 1. M203 grenade rounds don't create giant fireball explosions like we see several times in the movie. One thing worth noting that was accurate about the M203 is the part where Arnold says "knock, knock" and shoots the guy at point blank range with the M203 and the round doesn't detonate. The round has to travel a certain distant before it arms and will explode. 2. You aren't carrying a mini gun with a full pack of ammo through a humid, triple canopy jungle, I don't care how in shape you are. 3. Everyone fires from the hip which is insanely inaccurate. 4. Most everyone has a finger on the triggers while patrolling at one point or another which is not taught. Finger straight and off the trigger at all times until you are getting ready to fire. 5. Arnold takes his trigger hand off the rifle to put up the hand and arm signal to freeze in place. You do this with your non trigger wielding hand always.

I was a QM on the USS McFAUL (DDG-74). All of our work is done underway. In port, we cleaned the pilot house, a lot. We did a lot of painting, and we were off pretty early. But underway, we were port and starboard. Our whole existence was standing watch. Plus there was only like 4 of us. 😂
