22mph is a typical speed for a stock lightweight go-kart, it's amazing speed for a heavy truck powered by a stock go-kart engine.

@@jake-qn6zy if I were in the position within the company to do so, I certainly would. But as it works out, Cummins will donate former test engines to tech school programs. If the boy gets into a tech school program, he could get valuable experience working on our products. But as for little Indians in the operation, like me, we have to scrimp and save and buy an older Dodge truck or ex-ups van, to get the Cummins and related parts of the drivetrain to repower our own projects with.

I had a 83 or 84 Ford Ranger 2WD that had a factory diesel engine. I had been a delivery truck at one of the military bases. It did not have turbo or overdrive. It maxed out at 65mph on the highway. LOL! But it got incredible mileage no matter what I pulled or hauled with it.

I've built one of these trucks but I'm not so sure it would be able to get up to 40 mph due to the fact that it's rpms are limited to 3600, also it doesn't have enough gumption to get up a hill at any decent speed. Not good for the mountains, but probably great for Florida!

Simple add 16lb valve springs, billet flywheel, billet piston, billet cam, mikuni carburetor, jetting the carb, removing the govenor (it can safely go 5000 rpm they are limmited to 2700 rmp stock if I remember correctly) and that would definitely make the truck better

This reminds me a lot of a local thing here in sweden. Now granted these have the roginal engines but it is a car modified to only go about 20mph with double gearboxes so it can be registered as farming equipment and driveable at fifteen.

If that truck has low range You COULD change your sprockets out for a higher top speed. Take off in 1st low, shift to second low, shift to high and back into 1st high, then 2345...

old trucks like these don't have shift-on-the-fly transfer cases, so you have to come to a complete stop before shifting between high and low.

Jokes aside the place is pretty interesting looking. Thought it was a farm at first but the new trees with barrels seem out of place. Then i saw a volley ball court and what appears to be a soccer goal net. There appears to be an obstacle course and a tower of some sort as well. Maybe its a sports camp??

The Geo Metro's original 1.3L engine was 1300cc's so the 670cc predator would probably not do too bad which would be .67L where as the current setup is about .2L.

A friend of mine had a 1993 Ford Festiva that got excellent fuel economy but it had some electrical problems and he ended up selling it and the kid that bought it tried installing a stereo system in it and burned up the wiring harness. That car made it through 3 terrible drivers and leave it to a kid trying to install a stereo system to destroy it.

the original geo metro was a 1.0L 3 cylinder that made about 50hp. the later 1.3 8v around 70hp, 16v single cam maybe 80. the holy grail is the 1.3 DOHC 16v Swift GTi motor, over 100 stock hp and easy mods get you over 200

420cc and a smaller receiving sprocket, it'd probably do 30-35 mph and be "legal enough" to use as an around town grocery getter, in low gear range enough to haul stuff around for working a farm pulling a utility trailer loaded down too. not good for highways or freeways, but perfect for doing all the local close to home stuff.
