Most of these lovely blessed people have dogs I think it shows that people with pets are generally happier and more joyful than those who do not . My family did not have pets and they were pretty shut off emotionally . I had a pet mouse for a short while and a cat for a few weeks but most of my 65 years of life have been an emotional train wreck

ricecristi Haha I am from Germany and I am not aware of this expression, we probably would say "einen Braten in der Röhre haben“, which means "to have a roast in the tube“

As far as I'm concerned, in my country (Poland) we don't have any slang or stuff like that for this situation. But I have to think, maybe I can find something interesting.

In Norway we say "bolle i ovnen" which basically is the exact same thing. A bolle is a real sweet bun basically. Im kind of confused by what i should compare it as since, as an example, its called hamburger buns, when we just say hamburger bread. (We dont use buns (bolle) for other things than snacks/sweets) Hope that wasnt too confusing haha
