I was devastated for my older sister when her baby died at 38 weeks. She didn’t know the baby had died; thought it was bad gas but had no other major symptoms. At the Ob follow-up a few days later, there were no heartbeats. This baby would have been my siblings’ and my first niece/nephew. We were all crushed about it. I remember crying and being homesick as I was out of state for school. A pregnant classmate asked me if I were okay. I told her what happened. Her immediate response was “oh well, it’s not like she’s met the baby.” I was absolutely dumbfounded. Like how can you be so heartless AND being pregnant yourself?! That was our last conversation over 13 years ago. And did I mention, we were in medical school. Smh. Makes me wonder what kind of doctor she became…

You should never tell someone to get over something especially the death of a love one. You can not dictate when a person should get over something. Everyone grieve differently and it make take someone else a little longer. You should be supportive and keep a eye on that person to see if they need help beyond your control. Sadly, I've lost two. My son two months ago at 26 and my daughter a few years ago at 24. Both passed in my arms. My son from HLH,we didn't know and my daughter just got sick. Both no drugs and healthy. Just got sick a passed days later. Very difficult. No one deserves that pain.

The pregnant girl could've been more lenient about it, but I do understand her views on it. She is currently pregnant, and doesnt want to be around a miscarriage mourning. It can be uncomfortable and upsetting for her. And for Dana to invite a pregnant woman to a miscarriage mourning, and keeping a secret is rude and insensitive in itself... But she was in the wrong for being so rude about it, and could've dismissed herself in a kinder way, and not say "Get over it"

My aunt lost her son to a drug overdose but the bottom line is NO ONE DESERVES TO LOSE A CHILD PERIOD. WHETHER IT'S A BABY OR A GROWN CHILD OR TEENAGER. NO ONE. If I told my aunt to get over her son's death i would be in deep trouble with my parents and her.

In 2002, at the age of 22, I lost my first son at 35 weeks gestation and my best friend since kindergarten because of what she said after her daughter was born with breathing complications. I’ve never forgotten those words because of how they hurt… “at least you don’t have to worry your baby will die every night because he’s already dead…” I had pushed my grief aside to devote as much of my free time as possible to help her care for her daughter because she was a single mom… but I was so crushed by her words I don’t remember how I drove home, and I didn’t get out of bed for weeks… we haven’t spoken since, but thru mutual friends I’ve learned her daughter has grown up healthy… leaving her infancy problems behind her.

I can see both sides. Melody is having her first kid and doesn't want to be around sad energy especially since their is still a chance that she could miscarry. She could have said it better tho. The woman who lost her baby should have taken time to think about how one of her friends is going to have a baby soon and may not want to be around that kind of energy.
