As someone who has a overbearing M.I.L...please PLEASE be careful of what you say. I'm not saying walk on eggshells but remember you're kid is human just like she is, not all women are like you, if she is quiet and you're not don't trample over her because 90% of the time us D.I.L look up to you so much and look forward to a relationship with you. ❤ I've been through some questionable things that if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have delt with. Here's 3 examples: I was talking to one of my boyfriend's cousin's. Me and her were just meeting and there was other family around. (I'm very quiet and his mom has been getting on me for being "too quiet". I'm what you'd call a "woman of few words". So in an attempt, which was going well, I started having a great conversation. All I could think was, "she's going to be so proud!" 😅) NOPE Next thing you know my boyfriend's mom comes up, smacks her hand on the island, deading the room in silence then loudly proceeds to say, "Hey, get drinks for everyone!" I was startled, his cousin was startled, and truly we all were confused because everyone was doing their own thing. I was so embarrassed 😳, I wasn't raised like that and it most certainly threw me and her (his cousin) off. Plus usually when someone ask for "help" it's because...they need help or are in the process of doing something else and well need the help. I'm genuinely a nice person too and will help anyone. After, she sat down and went back to drinking. She only drinks when she has company over or maybe once or twice in a week, so I'm not saying she's an alcoholic, by an means. Anyway, Nodody needed or wanted a drink. The rest of the night she made comments, gave her son looks, and continued to contradict herself. She yelled at her husband for...just...well standing and if the food wasn't made right she'd have a public meltdown. Don't get me started on if she was proven wrong about something 😅. It's a scary time for everyone involved. The second time we had a small group of people over, and I wanted to know how she made her baked beans, because I genuinely enjoyed them and wanted to make them. I asked her how and sarcastically she put her finger to her chin looked up to the ceiling and said, "Well let's see...you turn the oven on, press bake, hit...3...5..0...-" Everyone went silent in shock.... Then his cousin interjected and with this face 😧 exclaimed her name. I stood there embarrassed then walked away. As I was walking away I heard her say, "What it's not that hard?? 😏 Then his cousin said, "I'm sure she knows how to work a oven, she was asking you for the recipe." Shortly after she came upstairs to hug me. 😳 Third time I wasn't feeling well, it was Thanksgiving. I went to her and told her I felt weird 😕 like something physically was off. I'll never forget, she turned to me and said, "You know, I think you manifest your illness." I said, "nevermind" and walked away. 2 days later, families there and I wasn't that hungry. My bfs dad made steak, salmon, veggies, etc I ended up everything on my plate except the steak because it was too heavy...she leaned over and whispered to me, "You know it's really rude to not eat what someone cooked. Get up. Put it on your plate and eat it" I stood up grabbed the steak and sat back down. A day later I still wasn't feeling good. To make a long story short, I ended up going to the hospital for kidney failure. I'm thankful I'm ok today. This was only 3 instances with more that I'm trying to forget. Thanksgiving is coming up again and I'm genuinely scared of what she's going to say 😪😔 All of this didn't have to happen and made my move to a different state with no family near a really lonely one. Idk what I did but sometimes She's nice and sometimes she's really mean. 🤷♀️ So from me to you, I should've set a boundary but I'm really quiet and meek. I've talked to the bf about it but I never said anything because I'm scared it would be turned on me and I don't want my bf and his mom to argue bc of me, or me drive a wedge between them. Mom's don't realize how much they set a tone in a home. How much weight you on others when you're children grow up. Once you're a mother, you never stop being one and a little bit of kindness goes a really long way. Take these three stories and promise me one day you'll do otherwise. ❤

I was married to a mamas boy, everytime i would cook he would always compare my cooking to his mom's even though she never cooked things i made. I got so tired of it that the last time hes said something i told him to go to his mom and suck on her chichis if he wants her food so bad. He was a woman abuser as well and i left him so glad i did. Now i am married to a wonderful man who loves his mom and respects her and heeds all the advice she gave him while growing up and he is remarkable.

My ex mother in law wore a white Lacy dress on my wedding day and her sister in law wore a black dress. Back then it was very rude and taboo. They did it on purpose. Also his father threatened me when my husbands aunt was to make my dress for me as she had for all the other women in the family. He was so jealous that he told everyone he wouldn’t come if she made my dress. For no reason at all except jealousy. I told him not to come then. He was bluffing obviously. This just spurred a lifetime of grief. He was so ripped to both of their apron strings all of his life that I was a third class citizen to my own husband…. For 30 years! Girls, do not do what I stupidly did. Run as fast as you can from these kinds of relationships. The only reason I don’t regret it all is because I had four amazing kids that I love so much. And he ruined that for me also. Run fast

Crazy how hugging your child is considered “ruining” a gender reveal - maybe she was just very excited? Who’s to say she didn’t also hug the wife? Not saying that maybe it was a little too soon to hug him, but I doubt she was being malicious. People need to stop jumping to conclusions. Honest to goodness, if a mother being excited for her child and hugging him is a red flag and makes you want to run for the hills, then I think the problem is you.

The only thing the Mother in Law is Guilty of is not being able to read your mind. Maybe tell people before your photo OP what your intentions are before you film; anyone could've hugged either one of you before your spouse and wouldn't have been in the wrong for it. Imagine being so fucking privileged that you weaponize your spouses families actions. Her day wasn't ruined, she just has an overbearing ego and felt that " Hey, I'm going to use the internet to shame my partner and his family into seeing things my way." For her sake, he takes this mess on the chin and continues feeling this woman's juice is worth the squeeze; otherwise that's another single mother.
@orchidsbloom6110 Жыл бұрын

By the title I thought the mother in law did her cannon to early and ruined the moment. People are saying she ruined it by hugging her son😂 Come on now! Mother to be when your baby arrives don’t you dare tell me you wouldn’t do the same. Because no matter how old your child gets it’s still your baby and the mother in law was just excited. This mother to be is probably the type to wake her man up at 4 in the morning asking for him to go get her ice cream. Dramatic for no reason.

Some people don't even have their mom in their life to get to share special moments like this one. This guy's mom being alive and well and getting to attend and witness this special moment is what should matter most. There is no way in hell I would let my gender reveal moment be ruined just because my MIL hugged her son (my husband) right after the reveal was made.
