Pregonero
A son-pregón and mambo-cha in one, Pregonero is emblematic of mambo
tradition with a prevalent sax guajeo ruling the roost. Telling the story of the eponymous street
vendor mentioned in so many Cuban tales, this arrangement contrasts sax, trombone, and
trumpet section riffs in successive instrumental sections. Molote spirals a deep improvisaton over the same sax montuno, and after some tutti horn stabs the arrangement goes, surprisingly, into a double time guaguancó wherein Kiko describes his wares as a pregonero, and Tato Vizcaino improvises with stunning virtuosity on the congas, seeming answering the Pregoneros call.
