Silicone paste or syl-glide is better than vaseline. From my experience vaseline makes the rubber o-ring swell. I used Vaseline on a water pump gasket and it caused a leak a couple years later.

was your gasket for the oil filter housing a bit oversized? I’ve been doing this job for about 3 days because i didn’t remove my axle so its just a huge pita. But i’m done with the base gasket just trying to oil filter housing back on and the gasket is oversized. The vaseline trick seems to hold it great, but for some reason my gasket is oversized and it keeps popping out when i try to lay it flat.

Did you double check the part# of the gasket? Make sure the right part And compare the old gasket to the new gasket. If they dont much you need to get another one with a right size

@@jfGarage4k yep its the oem part, my friend said it might’ve stretched slightly when i was installing it and recommended i put it in the freezer for a bit for it to contract. The vaseline trick works great tho! Great video!

Ya freezer a good idea keep the rubber small

This video has been very helpful! Now I need to do this myself so hopefully I don’t mess up 😅. The part I worry about most is taking out the axle. Do you have any suggestions or tips when taking it out and putting it back on? Also where did you order your O-rings?

Yes.. H Series with a Sh model

The base model is way easier to do than the SH.

Great video man. What year prelude? I did mine and don’t remember seeing that extra base. Only oil cooler base to engine block. Hard to do
@jfGarage4k4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the reply, This Sh is year 98. Only sh model have this adapter braket (require 2 orings) if u have a base model you only need just one cooler gasket.

@@jfGarage4k I went underneath from the front of the car to replace the O ring hoping that'll fix the leak, but guess it's the adapter leak. However, is there any other way to get to it WITHOUT removing the axle?

Will be nice if you show part numbers Thanks in advance

I noticed that you removed the entire control arm, shock and strut and axle. On the SH there’s a very very good chance that the axle could be seized. Making it impossible to remove without pulling the atts unit out. Which without removing the axle you have to pull the motor out or cut the atts output shaft. This is the worst designed Honda outside the new nsx when it comes to serviceability. It rivals the complexity of some German cars when it comes to the ATTS and intake manifold section.
