Respected Prof. I am 74 from south India. I have become so addict that every afternoon I started looking out for your excercise. I put efforts to solve it without watching your solution. Occasionally I fail to solve. But i enjoy doing it. I dont even bother about murmuring from my life partner. Those who want to develop algorithm for software writing must follow your way of solving every problem step by step spelling out the appropriate reasoning. Such procedure will lead to a foolproof algorithm and solution. There wont be any logical failure. One may face only Coding problem. I admire your patience in detailing out each step. Many intelligent Indian kids may not like to enjoy your step by step procedure. Impatient kids!. From my long experience as IT professional as well as computer science teacher, I felt like sharing my observation about your solution processes. God bless you

Did it in my head: 9^(3/4) = (fourth root of 9)^3; fourth root of 9 = sqrt(sqrt(9)) = sqrt(3); sqrt(3)^3 = sqrt(3)^(2+1) = [sqrt(3)^2] * sqrt(3) = 3 * sqrt(3). And we really don't need to do any calculations: with those choices, it should be clear immediately the first three are impossible, and "d" is the answer. Cheers. 🤠

You can do this in this way as well Write 9 as (√3⁴)³/⁴ then both 4 will be cancelled out and you will be left with √3³ which is √3×√3×√3= 3√3.
@devondevon43662 жыл бұрын
did it before seeing it has 4 choices but sqrt 27 = (sqrt 9)sqrt 3 = 3sqrt 3. 9^3/4.. just find the square root of 9, then compensate by doubling the base hence 3^6/4, then reduce 6/4 to 3/2 hence 3^3/2 = sqrt 27= (sqrt 9 ) (sqrt 3 ) = 3 sqrt 3

My trick to get it fast is I know a^(b/c) x a^((c-b)/c) = a so i knew 9^(3/4) x 9^(1/4) which is equivalent to sqrt(3) = 9and since 9^(3/4) x sqrt(3) = 9 9^(3/4) = 9/sqrt(3) which = 3 x 3/sqrt 3 and any number divided by its root is itself so 9^(3/4) = 3 x sqrt(3).
