WE got this car in January, 1986 - our national allotment no.was 374 (It was among the first 500 production cars from Premier-PAL) The Nissan engine & gearshift was butter-smooth and many parts were Japanese and lasted a lifetime. No engine noise and ride was plush & smooth. Petrol cost at that time was Rs.13.80/- per litre (Delhi) and when we finally bid adieu to the car in 2001, the petrol cost was 24.59/- per litre. Those were the days... I learnt my driving on this car, have the fondest memories of the Car. Pure Nostalgia.. Thanks a ton Retro Classics for the memory trip. Keep up the good work.

@@AK-sk6jj we used to have one from 1988 to 2000. Silk smooth engine right from idle to red line. 118NE was also known for gearshift quality and rear seat comfort and ride. Front seat were also comfortable. I learned driving on 118NE.

My Dads first Brand New Car!! June 1996!!! Its been 24 years and 7 cars later, we still miss this beautiful NE!! Sexy smooth gearshift, powerful A/C, soft suspension and very spacious. It was arguably one of the best cars ever made in India!!!

@@raceking83 may be. Actually when we sell something we dont know the future of that particular thing. These old things should b seen as our prestige. It is very often that people sell because they are in need of money but often sell because of pressure of other family members because it is scrap in their sight

It was the best car of all Era for the Indian roads. The comfort level of this car cannot be matched by any other car of modern times. The suspension was smooth and had a very feathery touch. The best car ever.

Premier 118 NE was indeed a status symbol back in the late eighties and early 90s. By 1992-93, the mighty TATA Estate & Sierra entered the market followed by Maruti Esteem, Daewoo Cielo, Ford Escort etc., In 1990, When Bangarappa became CM of Karnataka after Rajiv Gandhi unseated Veerendra Patil from CM position, Bangarappa had gifter Premier 118 NE to all the 100+ Congress MLAs along with 5 Lakh cash as a token of gift. Times have changed. Nowadays, if they have to buy MLAs from rival parties, MLAs sell for 20 to 30 crores with a promise for a ministerial berth or position in some high-income corporation boards and re-election sponsorship.

We even had a Lada station wagon in white, reason we had these cars is because my father was working for AEROFLOT International Airlines in Kolkata, so he was given these two cars....

This car was the most silent petrol refined engine I would say . Very comfortable n spacious for long drives good leg room cheap spare parts low cost maintenance only one disadvantage the body used to get rusted very fast n no safety when accident equally to a maruti
