I've been over to Bochum a few times with other Leicester City fans and really enjoyed my time there. The VFL fans were really friendly and welcoming and the beer and bratwurst/cürrywürst were really lovely but cheap. The atmosphere is so much better than the premier League with pyros smoke bombs and constant chanting. The football is a bit hit and miss, but the rest makes up for it. 🦊🦊 🤝VFL💙🤍💙🤍

Even if the melody of the chorus is 'stolen' by Rod Stewart's 'Sailing', it's still a song of its own and I get goosebumps everytime the Ostkurve puts their scarves out to sing it loud

Excellent video! I know quite a few of the people that developed the LCFC and VfL fan friendship. It's wonderful to see how it developed from such humble beginnings. Here's an interesting fact for you. If it wasn't for the Safe Standing campaign then this friendship might never have happened. That initial groundhopping trip was organised by my friend Chris (who supports Hadley FC) and he invited this Leicester fan called Andy as they knew each other having got actively involved together in campaigning for Safe Standing in this country. Chris had been groundhopping in Germany about 2 years prior and like you, myself, Andy and the other Leicester fans had adopted VfL as their German team. Incidentally the pub that Andys quote talks about has unfortunately closed down now. It was called the Bierkircher (I think that's how it was spelt). Anyway, wonderful video. Hope you're able to make a Leicester game in the singing section. The atmosphere is great in that part of the ground and those fans are the main ones who also support VfL. That area of Leicester has changes so much in the last 30 years or so. There used to be Frank Berry train scrap yard near the old Filbert Street ground. Trains stacked on top of each other being dismantled. You would never imagine it was the same place!

Loved this mate. It’s so true that quote! In school everyone was always Liverpool, Man Utd, arsenal or Chelsea fans. They would be knocking me for being a Sunderland fan and how we are shit. I think most kids do - Beckham definitely pushed me towards United 😅 I just think an adult football fan looks at things differently than their younger self - but you can still feel a sense of belonging even after supporting a club because of a player 😊🍻

Hi Ry, I have reader that our friendship- club Leiceister fired coach Cooper. I hope it will not have been too late! I fear in Bochum it is too late that the change of the Coach will rescue uns again from coming down in 2.Liga again. Always the same mistakes, too many gaps in the midfield, less dangerous offensives. A teams that is no Team at all. With blue - white greetings Konni Wy can Bochum not lent players from the foxies? I WISH it was the other way round and you could just pick your club. I live in Munich and man, i could watch Champions League, celebrate triumphant wins and witness skillful players demonstrating gracious artistry every week. If only I felt I belonged at Bayern. Alas, it's scrappy, inconsistent pingball in the 3rd Bundesliga and losing 0-1 at home to teams whose names even your phone thinks it probably has to auto-correct ("Sandhaufen", anyone?). But I wouldn't, and I couldn't have it any other way. 57, 58, 59... SECHZIG! forever!

@@RysFootyParadise I know some who did. Me, I'm not that dogmatic though. Seeing my club consistently mess up kinda makes me grudgingly respect how flawlessly Bayern operate. And as a fan of football, I am not going to deprive myself of enjoying the weird genius of Thomas Müller or the graceful technique of Musiala just out of tribalism. It may not a particularly popular opinion among 1860 diehards but it's how I tick.
