I've never been very good at AE but the text behind subject is exactly what I was needing for the project I'm working on so I gave a try. It works great but my little less than two minute video says it going to take 9 more hours to render and it was saying 49 hours a few minutes ago. This is on a M1 Ultra Mac Studio with 128mb of RAM and working off a m.2 drive.

Can you make more videos on sound design, especially for educational talking head and trying to build emotion for what you’re talking about (I.e. the why behind the solution you’re providing in a how-to). I have so much trouble trying to find sfx and tracks that fit what I’m going for because the search process itself is a skill I just don’t have.

For tip number 1 you could also lower the exposure or opacity of the clip, thus not needing to add a layer unnecessarily.

You could however you loose some of the picture and the ability to add a specific color -- eg dark purple or dark blue instead of black
